Cannot see side panels and cannot get triangles on the side to show in order to expand to side panel

On my Mac using Lightroom Classic, I was comparing two photos.  I cannnot get back to the usual screen showing side panels of folders and subfoders, with this particular subfolder being shown, etc.  All filters are off.  I cannot get out of Grid, Loupe, Compare, Survey, Slideshow headings.

In all photos, I can see all my photos in the library.

Help please.

Correct answer Conrad_C

And I do not get the usual Library, Develop etc choices on the top right tool bar

Does the top bar say Grid | Loupe | Compare | Survey on the left, then Normal | Live | Locked on the right?

If so, then you are not seeing the normal application window, you’re seeing the Secondary Display on top of the application window. If this is what happened, that’s why the side panels aren’t appearing; they never appear on the Secondary Display. The first thing to do is to turn off the Secondary Display so it stops blocking everything. You can deselect the Window > Secondary Display > Show command, or press its keyboard shortcut Command+F11. When it goes away, you should now see the normal application window, and you’re back in business.

If you need a longer explanation with more details, I wrote one in another thread on this forum where this problem happened.

Pressing Tab shows/hides the side panels.

Pressing F7 shows/hides the left panel, F8 shows/hides the right panel.

Also, the little triangles on the sides can be configured by right clicking them. (Auto Hide and Show, Auto Hide, Manual, and Sync with opposite panel)

Does that help?

Unfortunately no.  Interestingly, When I minimize Safari, Lightroom shows with the usual side panels but with Safari still showing on the top bar.  As soon as I click on a subfolder, I get a loop view of a photograph in that subfolder.
