This is a chronic but itermittant issue for me. No matter how often I reboot the computer (Mac Sequoia 15.2) or cycle through "J", or reset the LR preferences the Flag icon is repeatedly disappearing. After cycling through all the recommended fixes, the flag icon may start to show for a few days, but then it reverts to no icon. I know the images are flagged, because when I ask it to select flagged images, they are properly selected. But in Grid, Filmstrip, Loupe... it doesn't matter. The flag icon is constantly disappearing.
Been happening for a couple months (It's now Jan 15, 2025)
In the catalog folder there is a file that ends with "helper.lrdata". While LrC is NOT running you can delete this file and it will rebuild when you reload LrC. This file helps the faster loading of folder info, flags etc. It sometimes gets corrupted.

That's a very good suggestion. It may very well help with this weird issue and certainly does no harm.

It worked for a local friend of mine about a week ago and things are still fine for him. His ratings and labels were doing really odd things.

I've done it myself at times when I was having problems with Metadats Status issues giving me false values.

Same. I deleted the helper file, it worked for like 10 seconds and gone again. It makes culling completely terrible. This is the most annoying bug ever

Yep, we have to restart LR after every import that needs sorting via flags etc. Not good.

I do wish Adobe would fix this issue. I have to do restart after each import and delete helper file or I can't use the flag system. For a busy pro photographer this is an unwelcome thing to have to do a couple of times a day. We are paying $30 a month or more now for LR and PS which used to be more like $9!
come on Adobe techs. Please fix this issue. Thank you.
