Importing from external hard drive

Hi,


im unable to use import options "Add" & "Move" files from an external hard drive to Lightroom Catalog since the options are grayed out and the only available options are "Copy" & "Copy as DNG"..  is this normal ?  Sometimes I just need to add files not copy how can I fix this issue ??  I'm using a MacBook Pro & ..

 

Pease let me know a solution for this..

It's been reported that certain drives now show up as Devices in Ventura. Devices don't have the option of Add or Move. I'm sure others will weigh in.

Is there a way to fix this ? any idea which type of hard drives will work with Ventura ?

It may be the formatting. I use APFS formatted drives and HFS+ formatted drives. They all turn up in Lightroom as devices, just as they should. Are you perhaps using FAT or ExFAT formatted drives?

1. What MACOS?

2. Is the external hard drive a SSD? ( likely a issue if you could not Add, but could move)

Hi,

 

im using Ventura 13.1 

It dosent work on any type (SSD and HDD)  it wont Add nor Move.

Start by updating MacOS. The latest version of Ventura is 13.2.1.

Hi,

I know that these options are not available when importing from a SD card or form a Camera .. but I'm using an External HD and Sometimes I just need to add files, not copy them ....and some times I need to move them just to organize but I do not want to make a copy again.

 

how can I fix this issue ??  I'm using a MacBook Pro and my external hard drive permissions are allowed to read and write ,

 

Adobe online support staff are unable to provide me a solution for this and are not aware of this problem.

 

Pease let me know a solution for this..
