LCR stopped opening, How to reinstall LRC over broken version?

New Here ,
May 26, 2025 May 26, 2025

I am a long time Adobe user and primarily use the Photography Bundle.  All the apps work but suddenly 2 days ago LRC died while using it. No response it trying to open it again. How do I install a new copy when the computer things it is stll there?
The version was the latest as of 5/24/2025
Windows 10, last version.
All other Adobe apps are functioning normally.

I went to the Adobe website to see if just downloading a new current version would work, but nothing started. If I can replace the failed version, would I lose the setting data of older edited files?
LRC does not begin to load, as if the applicaion is not present, no error messages
Thanks for any suggestions!
Stan

If LrC won't open reinstalling may not fix the problem. The solution may be as simple as restarting the computer. You should also try this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lightroom-classic-not-opening/m-p/14849.... It may be a catalog problem, in which case you can try re-starting LrC while holding down the Ctrl key, this will allow you to open a new catalog or a different catalog.

If you really think you need to re-install, then uninstall and then re-install from Adobe Creative Cloud application on your computer, but I think that is unlikely to fix the problem.

Thank you DJ_Paige, I rebooted the computer, and tried to re-open  and still have no response.  I noticed file name of the fill appears in bold on the Windows Desktop and is not reacting to any screen changes or the mouse .  I never saw that before.  It is possible the app is running but locked out of any commands.  I am trying your first suggestion  first.

Hi @spbstan, thanks for reaching out, and we're sorry about the trouble!

Please try the steps suggested by dj_paige and let us know how it goes. If you continue to experience the same behavior, try reinstalling the application as dj_paige suggested, but we would recommend doing it using the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool. You can check out the steps to use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Thanks,
Nikunj

Thank you Nikunj  I am finding a number of things that do not help, Apparently the app started to load and stopped without responding to any of the steps suggested.  But at least the easy possible causes are rulled out.  When I discover the root cause I will post it. I tried to uninstall LRC but it does not get far

Have you checked for a lockfile that may not have been deleated? Perhaps the last time you used LrC it did not close properly, or crashed???
