I just upgraded to lightroom CC from lightroom 5 and it won't import my images. It shows a preview of them, but when I click import is says "importing images" but it never does and just sits like that. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
HI everyone,
Sorry for the import issues with Lightroom, please check this thread and follow the instructions - Lightoom 6.3: After update I can't open any video files

Rohit

One thing I’ve noticed is that this may be a drive problem and El Capitan. When I look at my “Seagate” external drive it shows as read only and I’m not able to make it writeable anymore. Not sure why. I’ve tried sharing it etc.

Hi,
Apologies for the import issue with Lightroom.
Try this,as if now while importing make sure that you only import images and no video, see if only importing images work or not.
I Have reported this issue to engineering, and will get back to you as soon as possible.
Regards
Rohit

I too cannot import it seems reliably. It worked the first time with under a hundred photographs. I didn't get this subscription for photoshop which I own. This has been a real problem. I am using latest Mac OS X and latest Lightroom. Message on screen is that files are uploading but in fact nothing is happening. Please tell me someone is working on this.

Having same problems here too.
I have Lightroom CC 5.7.1 (as I still have a 32-bit system with Windows 7 which precludes using LR6). Import seems to have stopped working after I tried importing from my Android phone connected to a USB port on the PC.
I've tried switching off and rebooting PC, using system restore to restore it to an earlier date and finally removed & then reinstalled Lightroom all without joy.
I can't import files from either a card reader or form folders on my hard drive - I click on a folder, sometimes momentarily see the 'spinning wheel' in the bottom left corner of the LR screen but nothing happens, I don't even see thumbnails.
As even the reinstall failed to resolve the issue, I'm at a dead-end and paying for a program that won't work - not impressed Adobe!

There are like a dozen suggestions on what to try already in this thread. Did you try any of them?
Did you try unplugging the Android phone?
Did you make sure the Destination Panel is present on the right hand side and expanded?

Yep tried the suggestions but to no avail.
Yes, unplugged the android phone before trying anthing.
As to destination panel, I'm seeing this:
Does that look right?

Click on Copy, find the Destination Panel and expand it, then if necessary go back to Add

Thank you kindly Sir! That's done the trick - I'm not really sure what (if anything) happened or if it was just 'user error' Either way, many thanks!

Once again I have the same problem. LR CC simply won't import files. Here are the suggestions, Adobe has presented to me: This is a problem with my account (changed creditcard), it because LR doesn't support Imac 5K, it's a wellknown problem and Adobe will soon come up with a fix for this. The supporters has spent hours on my computer (they are very helpful, I must give them that) - creating new catalogues and so on. One supporter solved my problem by deleting all my precious plugins and settings. And that actually helped. But now I am back. Please Adobe - it is hard enough to live as a photographer without having to deal with crappy software.

I no longer accept it when people say "same problem". I do not know that you have the same problem, because you haven't described the problem you are having. Please describe the problem in detail. Lots of detail. If there are error messages, please quote the exact complete unedited word-for-word error message. Show screen captures of the problem.

The problem may be that the folder you chose as the destination is not the right one. That was my problem...I created a new destination folder and made sure I chose it.

OK - fair enough. Same problem is: Lightroom doesn't import photographs. I have tried all steps described in this thread plus have wasted mine and several Adobe-supporters time trying to solve this. I am running Imac 5K, 8GB ram, 40 GB free HD, LR CC latest version. Right now I am trying to import photos from my Iphone 6 plus. And once again the import is stalled.
The problem is that LR promises to take care of your digital workflow. But it simply doesn't. As a professional the fact is you can't rely on LR if that means you have to do all kind of tricks, and still doesn't know if the thing can manage you digital workflow. It shouldn't all all be necessary to have to deselect video-files. Just as an example.
With Ipad Pro in the near horizon a cross-devices platform will be even more necessary. Clearly Adobe doesn't focus on troubleshooting - but as I am being told Apple is on it's way with a solution - and app to replace LR and PS. We will see.
I guess that as a professional photographer you simply don't upgrade - and that goes for Adobe as well as for OS.
Very frustrating though that Adobe hasn't been able to deal with these basic problems for such a long time.

Thank you dj_paige, but the problem remains:
- filters are turned off
- if I try to syncronize the folder it says "No photos or videos were found to import." All the photos are stored on a hard drive and can be accessed via the mac finder.
- if i try to import it says already imported.
- update folder location does not change the situation neither.

I didn't say to turn off the filters. I said you should apply all 4 steps listed. Did you apply all 4 steps I listed, or not?

I've applied all 4 steps and then it says: “_RSP6997.dng” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Then, if I locate it on the harddrive, the photo shows up in the folder.
What further steps do you recommend to fix the problem?

As far as I can tell from what you have written, this does fix the problem, and now you don't need to import this photo. If it doesn't, please explain further.

well, there are hundreds of photos to import. It is not possible that I perform this process for every photo.

Importing will not fix this problem. The photos have already been imported, there is no benefit and no point to import them again. Import photos once and once only, anything else will either not work or cause you trouble.
Please follow these instructions, which ought to allow you to reconnect all the photos folder by folder, or better yet, an entire hierarchy of folders: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

Reconnecting the photo location is not possible as the photos do not show up in the library module.
Reconnecting folder location do not change the situation neither: the photos, that are locate within the folder on the harddrive do not show up in the library module after updating the folder location.
