LR causing CPU Spiking/crashing - new build Intel 14900K

New Here ,
Aug 25, 2024 Aug 25, 2024

Anytime I import or starting working in either Library or Develop modules, my CPU will spike to 100% then computer will crash.  I have tried disabling parallel preview generation and have increated cache to 10GB which is located on a separate M.2 drive.

Any ideas on how to prevent LR from maxing out CPU and crashing?

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.

Computer crashing is almost always either a hardware malfunction, or corrupted/out-of-date driver. Re-install all your drivers. Run diagnostics on all of you hardware. If it happens when the CPU is maxxed out, the likely causes could be either a CPU malfunction or a cooling system malfunction.

Hey Buddy, I too have i9 14th 14900k and it was crashing same while doing heavy work like Render or export in Premiere or After Effects. Somehow I changes few settings in BIOS and it was better but now INTEL has sorted the issue and all you have to do ir to update your BIOS mannualy. Go to your motherboard provider site and download the latest Beta version of BIOS and install that.

Its fixed. I have updated mine and its working perfectly fine.
