I would like to join!

Today was my first Import with V12.1 Lightroom Classic

I'm using a MacBook Air M1 on Big Sur

I plugged in my SD-Card Reader

Import Dialog shows up

I selected the new pictures (i also tried to use the "destination folders"-section to just select the files of yesterday)

I made sure that "COPY" is selected (top middle section of that dialog)

I hit "IMPORT" and "nothing happens" - no new files in the "latest import" section

Then i've found out, that the files were copied to the local SSD in the correct directory! they are THERE!

But they weren't imported to the catalogue!! - so i think i have the same problem as described here.

After two or three times trying, i did this:

- i deleted the files from the correct destination directory with the Finder (so all multiple copies of the files - they were numbered with _2, _3 …. – were gone now. empty directory)

- i tried to import via SD Card again -> no luck again but the files were copied again into the correct directoy

- now i drag&drop the files from the destination directory right into LrC -> Import Dialog shows up, i hit IMPORT (this time with the "ADD" Option) and voilá - they are there!

That REALLY annoying and obviously a bug as i didn't have that problem before V12.1

Having a solution would be welcome.

Or is there a way to downgrade to 12.0 or so? then i would try this too

OH! I just realized:

- LrC 12.1 is not showing me the "pick"-Flag or the Rating-Stars on the Pictures anymore!

I can set the pictures to be picked (with P key) and i can filter them - but the Grid isn't showing the flag.

I switched thru the views with J key, no change.

Wow, something broke heavily with that update :'(

When you accomplished the import, did you select Copy, Copy as DNG, Move, or Add. Actually Copy as DNG not important, nor is Move. Copy vs Add is important, oh, and never ever Move (possible accidents)

If Add, then you should remember what folder those photos are in, In the LrC library, folders panel, look for that folder. The folder, not the Collections. (other tan all)

If Copy, bring up the import screen, look over on the right panel, look at what is currently listed for destination. Is it what you wanted? That entry should be as whatever was selected at your previous import. It should only change by user intervention. In the library module, in the folders panel, look at that folder.

One extra note. If that destination is not valid, say you renamed/moved/deleted a folder outside of LrC, and that altered folder is where you last imported to. LrC will not know that, and the import will fail, with or without you noticing an error message. And an old bug that may or may not have been fixed, that may or may not be an actual bug, but some odd OS issue, If that destination folder is invalid, even if you are selecting Add, the import may fail, despite Add having nothing to do, supposedly, with that destination. (no I cannot prove that with a reference)

Ok. I checked again and the "imported" photos will show in my external hard drive folder but still not showing in LR

Go to All Photographs. Turn on the Filter Bar using the \ key. In the Date column, go to todays date (or rather the capture date of the import). Are the files there? If so right click and use 'Go to Folder in Library'. This will reveal the actual location. Make sure all filters are off before you begin.

Did you try a different card reader? Or try connecting the camera to the computer via USB cable, bypassing the card reader?
