Question

LR Classic will not open a different catalog when a catalog is already open.

Since I got a new Macbook Pro M1 Max a few months ago, I've been experiencing a weird intermittant bug with Lightroom Classic. If I have a catalog open, and I want to switch to a different catalog, I go to "file-open recent" or "file-open catalog". Half of the time Lightroom will close the catalog I'm currently working in and do nothing more. It does not re-launch with the recently selected catalog. Then I have to simply open Lightroom Classic, and only then it opens to the chosen catalog.

This behavior started after I upgraded to an M1 Max Macbook Pro. It's currently running LRC 12.01 & Mac OS 12.6

All catalogs are on the internal storage of the macbook. I am most often not backing up the catalogs when I close them during the above behavior.

Any insights would be helpful.

Try resetting your Lightroom preferences:

Quit Lightroom Classic.
macOS: Press and hold the Shift + Option keys.
Windows: Press and hold the Shift + Alt keys.
While holding down the keys, launch Lightroom Classic.
When asked, select "Yes".
