My LRC catalouges have changed to LR catalouges  would like to change them back.

I was in the process ov combining all my LRC catalouges into one catalouge when I noticed all my previous LRC catalouges were re-named to LR catalouges.  I now cant even create a new LRC catalouge when I try the system creats LR catalouge.  Has been working fine for many years. Have tried reverting to previous version of LRC bu nothing seemes to be working as it used to.

As to the update of LrC or not, and the Creative Cloud Desktop App appearance you posted.

Otherwise, and I will share a few from my rig:

I see what your saying but I just tried to upgrade LRC to the current version from creative cloud, when it completed it appears to have added a new empty catalog ( I requested new) but is using the LR icon and it will not open LRC

This has worked well for years and not sure what simple setting I may have changed.  And I cant reach anyone at Adobe for assistance. Its crazy. iI guess I need to start with a new computer.

Time to start a chat with Adobe. And during the chat be assertive that you need to have actual Adobe Tech contact you. Then wait for their phone call.

Also, I see that we forgot to ask an important question.

What Adobe plan have you subscribed to?

  • Photography Plan
  • Lightroom Plan
  • Photoshop Plan
  • etc

I have the Photography Plan.  It looks to me, LRC may have been removed from my conmputer during an update and replaced with LR.

I think I need to-download LRC but I don't see  a download option, just an update option.

I can see LR on my C drive but no  LRC  that sounds like an issue.  LRC can only be run from the cloud shortcut.

Does Lightroom Classic appear in your Windows list of installed Apps, as shown by @GoldingD here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lrc-catalogues/m-p/14392535#M354883

Another bit of info that can help you, is to turn viewing the file extensions (of protected) on, so that you can see it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, however, its not resolved.  It does not show LRC as an option when "open with this program" it only shows LR and PS.  I'll look at it again later this afternoon ( Mountain Time Zone) It seemes like I need to download LRC again so its on my pictures directory but not sure. Thanks again !  John

So when LrC was not listed for .lrcat, did you click on choose a default, or that square button on the right to search for the appropriate app, then scroll down to choose from the computer"

The below should come up

And scroll down then click on Choose an app

 and navigate to Lightroom Classic

Is your OS Windows 11 or 10?

Following is for Windows 11, I forget if it is the same for Windows 10, but it may be similar

Issue is associated .lrcat files with LrC. Something that should have already occurred during LrC install.

Are you now using Lightroom (Lr icon), instead of Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)?

I now cant even create a new LRC catalouge when I try the system creats LR catalouge.

What is the full complete file name created by the software?

Your catalog is still a Lightroom Classic catalog. Maybe Windows has associated it with Lightroom, but it is still an .lrcat file, which is a Lightroom Classic catalog.
