Mac Mini 2012 and LR/LRC does not support my new Canon R8's Raw files, any ideas?

I have a late 2012 Mac-Mini running Catalina 10.15.7, I have been using LR 5.5 and LRC 11.5 with Camera raw 14.5. I recently purchased a Canon R8, and was a little surprised to discover that my RAW files would not open in these two programs. My research has taken me to a dead end so far. I know I can convert to DNG but are there any ways to upgrade the compatibility issues so that I can just use my RAW files?

TIA

Either use Canon DPP or another RAW processor, or buy a new computer.

Some older Macs can be brought up to a more current OS by using OpenCore patcher. You really just want to get a new computer though as it will be very frustrating (i.e. slow) to work with R8 files on a computer from 2012

You need CR v15.2 for the R8. You need Lr-Classic v12.2 minimum for the R8.

TBMK I doubt that an older version of the DNG Converter App will be capable of converting the R8 raw files..( As says @dj_paige )

Your OS Catalina 10.15.7 is insufficient to support of the latest DNG Converter App.

Shoot only in JPG or invest in a new Mac are the only two options I see.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

Best solution is to install LrC 12.5. If you cannot install the current Lightroom Classic 12.5 on your operating system (and I don't know if you can or not, I don't keep track of Mac OS requirements), then DNG is the only way.

Thanks. My current OS limits the ability to update. I do appreciate the quick reply

In that case you should consider converting your R8 images to DNG using Adobe's free DNG converter app, which does work with Catalina
