Multiple photo selection in Collection is reduced to one photo after dragging to a new folder

How do I stop the following from happening?

1.  select multiple photos in a collection
2.  drag the photos to an actual folder in the left sidebar
3.  in the current view of the collection, all of the photos I had selected are deselected except the first one

I want all of the photos I had selected to stay selected after I drag them to a folder in the left sidebar. That's how it used to work in LR 5.
