Hi,

Since just now, I've been experiencing a weird bug / crash in Lightroom Classic (on a Mac), where ALL my photos suddenly are fully covered in artefacts in the Develop module.

Screengrab from the develop moduleexpand image

(Screengrab from the Develop module in Lightroom Classic)

When I check the linked RAW + JPEG source files in Finder, they all seem ok (they don't look corrupted, nor show any artefacts here), meaning the issue is within Lightroom.

Screengrab from the RAW source file in Finderexpand image

(Screengrab from the RAW source file in Finder)

When I export images out of Lightroom (with any setting, edited or even not edited), the artefacts are also present on the export files.

Screengrab from the exported JPG imageexpand image

(Screengrab from the exported JPG image)

This problem started occuring soon after I applied the new AI noise reduction feature on just ONE (1) photo.

I already tried:

  • Closing and re-opening Lightroom
  • Shutting down (fully), and restarting the computer after 1 minute
  • Switching the GPU accelrator setting in Lightroom on/off

MY SPECS

  • Lightroom Classic 13.0.1 - Build (202310121438-d2af310c)
  • Macbook Pro 16" - 2019
  • 2,3Ghz 8-core Intel Core i9
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB
  • 32GB 2667MHz DDR4 memory
  • OS Sonoma 14.4.1

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because this makes the whole software unusable....

Thank you!

We've investigated an issue with the macOS 14.4.1 update that affects systems running AMD series GPUs.

The issue manifests as garbling of/artifacts in images in Develop/Edit views and similar artifacts in Exported images.  The problem can afflict Camera Raw (16.2.1), Lightroom Classic (13.2) and Lightroom Desktop (7.2).  Restarting the application should restore your Develop/Edit view and return you to the expected Export results.

The hardware manufacturer's will need to identify the cause

Consider also it may be a camera problem.

I also have seen a similar fault appear in files from a (point & shoot) camera that was used in very cold conditions. (4 degrees C).

If working to check the Graphics card drive is not successful, you might access a friends system of Lightroom, to test the image files there.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.2 Photoshop 26.3, ACR 17.2, Lightroom 8.2, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 15.0.2, .

Given the artefacts you're seeing plus the computer model and GPU, then there's high probablity that you're seeing the same bug as detailed at https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-gpu-develop-edit-view-amp-export-artifacts-a...

On Intel Mac Book Pro (Sonoma 14.4.1) with Lightroom Classic 13.2 I have some colored pixel after 1h work in development modul.

When I close end re-open Lightroom, the failure still exists.

To fix this issue for a while I need to shut down the Mac and start again.

You trimmed the 'System Info' above where the GPU specs are normally listed. That being said,  the artefacts shown would suggest that the issue you're experiencing is the same as described in https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-gpu-develop-edit-view-amp-export-artifacts-a...

Can you confirm your MacBook has an AMD GPU?

Note that if your GPU is AMD, then your post will be merged with above thread.

I have asked around and I know some other folks are seeing this as well but when I take a raw file into LR Classic these last few version updates, square artifacts are randomly created on the images whenever I use enhance to denoise.  These artifacts are not created when using Topaz Photo AI to denoise for instance.  I have been unable to get an answer for why this is happening.

Currently using version 13.3 of LR Classic and this has been happening since version 13.  Nothing on my desktop Imac has changed except I have been updating LR Classic.  When it was working, the enhance feature was brilliant but I feel like for some reason it has not been working on my Mac desktop or laptop for the last few updates.  Does anyone have any idea how to diagnose this issue or what might be causing it?  I have not heard of anyone experiencing this with a windows based machine.  My iMac is an Intel Mac 2017 based, not one of the M2 or M3 macs.  Thanks to anyone who has an idea why this is happening since version 13 of LR Classic.

Hello,

I just updated the iOS on my 2020 MacBook Pro to Sonoma 14.5.  Also updated to the latest PS, Bridge, and ACR (16.3).  Now when I open a RAW file (dng) in ACR I get the following type of image, where it's obscured by weird colored pixels.  I've googled around trying to figure this out, to no avail.  The thumbnail at the bottom of the screen looks ok.  Can someone direct me to a solution?

Thanks,

Bonnie

For about 6 weeks I have had the problem that files (Raw, PSD and others) change color when switching from the library module to the develop module. There are color spots on the image that also change.
When exporting, all images get a yellow tint with strange tearing.
I have the latest version of LR Classic (May 29, 2024) on a MAC Powerbook, 2.3 GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 , AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB, MAC OS

Does anybody has an idea?

After updating to LRC 13.3, when I rendered jpgs, the image will appear with a heavy layer of "green static" over the barely recognizable image. I shut down LRC and my computer, restarted everything, re-rendered the images and they were clear. Then I edited a few more images, rendered them and the green static appeared again. So I shut down everything, opened it all up and was able to re-render the images clear again. This seems to be a LRC issue, it's not corrupt raw files (it happens to anything I try to render with any camera taken and loaded into LRC before and after the 13.3 upgrade). The thumbnails do not show the green static, but when you open the files, then it appears. I've attached a screen shot of the file closed, showing a normal thumbnail, and a screen shot of the file opened, showing the green-static. I tried to attach the original rendered file but it's too large. As of this morning I cannot replicate the problem, but wanted to start the conversation to see if anyone else is experiencing it or if tech-help has any constructive info. I'm rushing off to the next shoot and I will update this post if I do or do not continue to see the issue.

There seem to be issues with AMD GPUs, although so far I thought that was only in conjunction with MacOS 13 or 12. PS, this is how to make a proper screenshot on a Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh26782/mac

All of my Raw files in lightroom have seemingly randomly corrupted. All the JPGS are fine. They all have artefacting and green lines all over them (photo attached below).

I have seen threads that claim this is an SD card or Harddrive issue however I have tried a number of photos from all sorts of sources and even tried them in the Photoshop camera raw editor. It is definitively not the harddrive.

any one have any ideas or answers?

Thanks!

I'm having a visual bug on all of my images making editing impossible. There's RGB artifacting on all of my photos that doesnt exist on export. Only in editing. Initially only affected recent uploads, now it's all my photos.

I've attached a screenshot and the image exported after issue came up.

Any advice is helpful!

Bonjour,
