New Here ,
Jun 16, 2025 Jun 16, 2025

Lightroom Classic versjon: 14.4
Operativsystem: Mac OS 15

As of this new version I am not able to denoise a batch of photos, only individual ones. Can't find any guidance as to how this can be fixed. Hope you can help me, thanks.

Select the images to be Denoised, enable Auto Sync, then click on the Denoise checkbox. You can use the slider below the Denoise checkbox to fine tune the amount of noise reduction applied to all or individual images in real time.

In Lightroom Classic, there are 5 ways Batch editing can be realized.

  1.  Auto-sync
  2.  Sync
  3.  Copy/Paste
  4.  Presets
  5.  Previous

In Lightroom Desktop, your 2 options are:

    1.  Copy/Paste
    2.  Preset

Lightroom Desktop does not have Sync, Auto-Sync, or Previous.

For more information, please refer to this video by @brianmatiash, in which he demonstrates these options and provides additional context.

No then you still have to auto AI update each freaking photo, and the should you edit, it wants you to update AI again,  what a pain in the rear.

@Bob_Balmes5007

There is a bug in LrD where Denoise isn't being applied properly and yes, because of this, some photos need an AI Update. It is not intended to be like this.

Not enough information. Your comment is too vague for anyone to reasonably answer.

LrC/Lr never 'destroy' an image. You can always Undo or Reset edits.

Hi @abjamne, I'm Sorry to hear about your issue, we're here to help.

Could you please share more details about the issue you're experiencing? For example:

  • Are you seeing any error messages or just a blank screen?
  • Does Lightroom freeze, crash, or fail to start a specific process?
  • Does the progress bar appear and then get stuck?
  • What camera are the RAW files from?
  • Are the files in RAW format (like .ARW, .CR3, .NEF), or are they in another format such as DNG, TIFF, or JPEG?

You can try these steps out in the meantime for a quick fix and see if they make any difference:

1) Try turning off your GPU. You can refer to this Helpx article for steps and further information: Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic

2) Reset Lightroom preferences: Corrupted preferences can sometimes cause unexpected behavior. To reset them, hold Option + Shift while launching Lightroom Classic.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

Noel

This issue is with the new update, the Denoise function is very difficult to work with!!!! Please revert back!!! There were no issues with this feature; it performed amazingly, and now it is horrible to use with multiple photos

AGREED! I am TEARING my hair out right now. This is a MAJOR change and it's HORRIBLE. Adobe has destroyed batch denoise. I cannot do ANYTHING with this garbage. I edit pictures for my job and I'm about to throw my computer across the room.

Go to the creative cloud app, click the apps tab on the left, scroll to Lightroom, hit the three dots, click "other versions", click install on the previous version that had the old style Denoise, live with the fact it's going to tell you there's an update from now on.

Hi,

I kind of like the idea, not to have two images / files when using the enhance feature. But: with the new update I really miss the possibility to use enhance in the batch mode for different images at once. So please re-introduce the "batch-mode" for enhance.

Last week, we released a major Lightroom improvement related to using AI Denoise. Since then, I've seen a bunch of questions related to whether you can batch apply Denoise to multiple photos. The good news is that you can! This video covers seven ways to batch apply Denoise using Lightroom Desktop

Hi @Rikk Flohr: Photography

Thank you for your reply, but: where do I find the auto sync feature in Lightroom (not classic)? I posted the question in the Lightroom section here but it was pushed into this thread.

Why did it change?

I've always edited photos, then labeled it with the photo's i wanted to denoise, i made a denoise at the end, Which were DNG's so i can move them to a different folder which has AI work done. Then export those.

Then id:

  1.  Still have original non Denoised Photo's
  2.  Seperate DNG of denoised photos
  3.  i can mass denoise at the end (CMD+A > Denoise)

Hello Lightroom Community,

I've noticed a change with the new update regarding the AI Denoise feature. It appears that while Denoise AI is running on one photo, Lightroom prevents any work on other images until the process is complete.

Previously, we could continue culling, editing, or working on other tasks. This new behavior is very inconvenient, especially for those of us who process many images, as it forces us to wait idly. It's a significant disruption to an efficient workflow.

Hoping this is something Adobe can look into.

The Denoise dialog in 14.3.1 and earlier is modal. This means that you could do nothing with the app until the dialog wass closed.

No, the previous version allowed me to do that. While Denoise was running, I could work on other photos and even do a double denoise concurrently

By @Ian Lyons

The difference is in how long the modal window blocks use of Lightroom Classic. I understand the frustration others are expressing, after doing some batches myself.

Up to Lightroom Classic 14.3.1:

You select a bunch of images, open the modal Enhance dialog box, set the options, and close it. If it took you 5 seconds to do that, the modal dialog box was open for 5 seconds. After you apply and close the dialog box it begins batch processing in the background, so if that takes an hour, you can get another hour of Lightroom Classic work done in the foreground.

So:

Total modal dialog box open time, 5 seconds.

Total work you can do in Lightroom Classic while it's processing: An hour of productivity.

In Lightroom Classic 14.4:

You select a bunch of images and click Denoise. The modal progress window opens, and stays open as long as it takes to process all selected images. If it takes an hour, Lightroom Classic cannot be used during that hour because it is blocked by the modal progress window.

So:

Total modal dialog box open time, 1 hour.

Total work you can do in Lightroom Classic while it's processing: None. Work in another app or walk away for an hour.

I don’t want to go back to the old way because the new way is definitely better and more interactive, and uses much less storage space because it no longer creates the unnecessary clutter of denoised copies. But I also hope a way is found to let batch processing of Denoise happen in the background, because that’s how it works when batch processing all other Develop settings.

Gracias.

Has the ability to apply ai-Denoise to multiple images simultaneously been removed? This renders the app WAY WAY LESS useful to me.

I'm going to have to roll back / move off the platform if I can't apply the denoise to multiple photos.  (attached screenshot of the version I'm using)Screenshot 2025-06-19 at 10.19.37 PM.png

One more note, I've seen in other posts that there may be a way to cut and paste the denoise setting across multiple images (by selecting them and clicking paste)... but that does not appear to apply the denoise setting. I need to open each file individually and click the denoise check mark? That takes 1 min per file, and the application is locked on the process bar while it processes! This is a crazy downgrade! If I have 50 images for example (as I do right now), am I really meant to sit here for 50+ minutes, diligently clicking the box every minute or so? It's unuseable.

@Maxwell35887117ccl9

You are posting about Lightroom (LrD). This is a forum for Lightroom Classic (LrC).

If you are using LrD, you can copy Denoise and Paste to a selection. Although it applies Denoise again to the active photo, since it has already done it, LrD almost instantly moves on to do the other photos in the selection. It does this by doing an AI Update on each of the remaining photos in the selection. When it has finished, the AI Update Status icon is yellow, but this looks like a bug to me; click on one of the photos in the selection and the AI Update Status icon goes to normal.

There is a way but what a waste of time! Once you've done your copy and paste, and it's gone through for all pictures (which takes a century and seems to stop regularly if you move off the app), you can then select all the photos that have the yellow sign on them and go to Photo/Update AI settings in x photos - it works-ish but if anyone has something faster let me know because this essentially take 5 times longer and I have 7,000 pictures to denoise!
