There is no longer any on-line activation for Lr 6. To do the move, you will need to follow these instructions https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/ and then to install Lr 6 you will need to use the offline activation method https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/lightroom-6-on-a-new-pc/m-p/14638713#M580921
Adobe does not provide technical support for any issues regarding Lr 6.
To install Lr 6, use the offline activation method. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lightroom-6-sign-in-required/m-p/14822708#M376764

RESOLVED - it's working again
I managed by searching old emails to find a Serial Number for V5 from 2014
For anybody else the steps were -
Download and install AAM
https://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe//creativesuite/cc/win/ApplicationManager10.0_all.exe
Re-install Lightroom folder … mine was D:\Pictures\Lightroom
This has the catalogue file Lightroom.lrcat
Download Lightroom 6.1 installer package .. I got it from https://web.archive.org/web/20231220005239mp_/https://prdl-download.adobe.com/Lightroom/60BA1251F1BC...
Start installer
When it asks for Serial No. > enter V6 serial number > proceed
It then fails advising a valid serial number, but no qualifying product could be found.
In drop down select LR 5
Enter LR5 serial number
Install proceeds
It installs as V6.1.4
All images are there in library.
A lot of ghosted images on Desktop etc., that is just clean up as its on a new PC

Excellent! I'm happy for you. Why didn't I think of that?

@jamesl46055539 "I will now need to use the Offline Activation Method, correct?" Yes.
And do not install the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

OK thanks. I guess at some point the offline activation servers will also go offline - or stop processing codes for LR6.x don't you think?

Yes, thousands of years from now, these servers will not work. In between now and then (and in the next 10 years), who knows?

I bought a Lightroom 6.0 pertetual license for Mac and PC (using on Mac OS 10.10.5) years ago for $149. Updated it to 6.14. Use it occasionally, and it has more than enough feature for me. Had to re-install OS and re-installed 6.0 from orginal installer file, but I can't find the 6.14 update files I used, and need it to read ACR images from RX100m4. Does anyone still have the 6.14 update file? So hard to find. Adobe says they don't have a link for it anymore, and suggested I ask here. None of the links in existing posts work anymore. I figure I'll have to get it from someone willing to put it a shared drive for me. Would be very grateful if anyone out there could be bothered to do that. Thanks! James

My suggestion is to take advantage of the (free) Adobe DNG Converter program. It will quickly convert your Sony files to Adobe DNG files that can be used in Lightroom 6. All support for Lightroom 6.xx has been discontinued. Be careful if you find someone offering it to you.

Thanks Bill. It did occur to me that might be a safer way to go, due to theoretical risk of the instalation process of 6.14 on top of 6.0 and possible activation call to a non-existant activation server (though my current understanding is that with a serial number I probably won't need to log-in and activate..?)
I'm trying to figure out which version of DNG converter is best. I read that RX100m4 needs DNG 9.1.1 and above. I also read that DNG 9.6.1 is the last version compatible with CS6. And someone said that the last version compatible with Mac OS 10.10.5 is DNG 13.4. So I guess that means I should find DNG 9.6.1. Can anyone confirm or provide link?

the risk is zero, people install 6.14 over 6.0 this without issue
and possible activation call to a non-existant activation server
There is no more online activation using a server. All activation of Lr 6 is done offline, it works efffectively and without issues, you can find dozens of people who have done this successfully by searching this forum.

DJ, when you say "offline activation", do you mean the steps listed below? Can anyone confirm they are still working circa Feb 25th 2025? Thanks.

Yes that is what I mean. I have no idea if it still works, I have never even once tried it as I don't need to install Lr 6. However, it will take you just a few minutes to try it and see if it still works. Please let us know what happens.

There are no official Adobe downloads anymore, as already pointed out by Bill.

Thank you. I was able to download the 1.2Gb LR 6.14 complete install file from archive.org (the 6.0 original install file is about 700Mb). I had hoped to find the 6.14 update file (setup.dmg - about 400 Mb as I recall), because presumably that would retain my 6.0 activation, but archive.org didn't seem to hold that file, even though the page that links to it still exists:
Under LR6 drop down, there's a list of update patch files. Interestingly, adobe selectively removed the top 3 or 4 most recent patches - the older ones still work, which seems counter-intuitive until think it through. Anyone still got the 6.14 setup.dmg file?

Yes, the 6.14 download is still available! See here
Please do yourself a HUGE favor and save this download somewhere that you can find it in the future, just in case the download is not available in the future. Put it in a folder with an easy to understand name, such as Lr 614 Download which should be a folder at the root level of your drive. Do not create a folder 5 levels deep in your folder hierarchy for this, it will be much harder to find if you put it 5 levels deep in your folder hierarchy.

Thank you DJ. I downloaded the file, and will keep it safe as you recommend. Do you know if there's any problem installing this on top of 6.0. Will it ask me to re-enter my serial number? After re-entering it, will it need to connect to adobe to verify or activate? Will the 6.0 remain alongside the 6.14, each using one of the two allowed devices? Would it be wiser to connect or disconnect from the internet during instalation? In case it helps: my adobe account lists 3 products: Lr6 with serial and download link (non-working), Ps13 with serial and download links, and "Phtoshp Lightrm Bndl 1.0" with serial and no download links. I believe the latter 2 came from a prior Creative Cloud trial, but I currently have no active subscription.

PS: to be clear my above questions refer to the Mac OS dmg version of the 1.2Gb full install of 6.14 (not the upgrade patch, which seems unfindable)

PPS: also, my adobe account > activated devices, shows "You have no activated devices" (which I guess is a good thing for the contemplated instal..)

There is no problem installing over 6.0.
Yes, you have to enter your serial number to use the software.
As stated in the popular Miley Cyrus song, there is no online activation any more, there is no longer any counting of installations, so it counts as zero installations against the (new) theoretical limit of infinity plus 12 activations.

Thanks! Do you think installing 6.14 will install a later version of ACR? Any idea which one (6.0 installed 9.0, but I'm aiming for 9.1.1..)

By @jamesl46055539
You should be fine. ACR is baked into the Lightroom versions. If you succeed at getting 6.14 to install, you will have the equivalent ACR. A RX100IV only requires LR 6.1.1 according to the Adobe chart.

I have Lightroom 6.14 on a hard drive, which I am moving into a brand new computer. My question is will it need to be deactivated on the old one, and reactivated on the new one?
If it does need de/reactivated how do I go about that please?
