There is no longer any on-line activation for Lr 6. To do the move, you will need to follow these instructions https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/ and then to install Lr 6 you will need to use the offline activation method https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/lightroom-6-on-a-new-pc/m-p/14638713#M580921

Ok, thank you!

For the first instruction (number 1) how do you launch Lightroom 6 without the cd?

As per links posted by @dj_paige you download the file (.exe for PC, or .dmg for Mac) to your computer and ‘run’ the downloaded file to install.

You can only activate the app with the instructions in the other given link.

You don’t need a CD any more. You can download Lr 6 from

You can install it following these instructions from @Eldiin :

I have Lightroom 6 and I don’t have an external cd drive. If I buy one, will I be able to use download it?,

Very unclear question. You don’t need an external CD drive (or if you think you do, why?). Your last sentence doesn’t really make sense to me. Could you rewrite the entire question to be more clear?

To successfully install Lr 6, use the offline activation method described in the link below.

Hallo,

Wilfried

I installed LR Classic 6.14 into new Windows 11 PC.

I disconnected from Internet, selected offline activation and after receiving code connected back to internet and continued activation online. Activation successful. Thanks.

There is only an ‘offline’ method to run v6 now. (and who knows how long that will last?)

See the posts from @dj_paige in this link-

Year ago I disconnected from LAN my Win 7 computer where LR 6 classic was installed.

Now I wish to install LR 6.14 Classic on new Win 11 computer. After running 6.14 installation file and entering LR serial, Adobe account login is required but LR still doesn’t start. When I login to lisencing I see there my registered LR license but can’t figure out how to use it. I need LR classic as photo library only. Any suggestions, how to run installed LR classic?

@dj_paige many thanks - this worked and I have LR6 back now on the new machine, by-passing the online sign-in loop.  So grateful for this explanation - cheers.

@dj_paige by way of follow up to above, whilst the link to the instructions worked, there was a flaw in that it installs the base LR 6.0 version, without any of the subsequent patches. As such, LR did not have RAW support for my camera (whereas I had it in version 6.14 before).  Any attempt to re-install kicks off the online sign-in loop again and going the offline route again will merely facilitate a re-installation of 6.0.  Eventually, I got around this using the method below, so am posting here to the extent useful to anyone else in similar position:

Bypassing the Lightroom 6 Update Loop & Restoring 6.14 Support
===================================================

THE PROBLEM:
When migrating Lightroom 6 to a new Windows PC, the standard installer
triggers an un-skippable Adobe Sign-In loop. Disconnecting the internet
and using Adobe's "Offline Challenge/Response" code generator successfully
activates the software, but it drops the program back to baseline Version 6.0.

Because Adobe has retired the 6.14 update servers, trying to update from
inside LR 6.0 triggers a subscription page or an activation countdown that
can permanently lock your license. This leaves you trapped on 6.0 with
zero native support for newer cameras.

THE SOLUTION (The "Old PC" Folder Swap):
Because Lightroom 6 is largely self-contained, you can bypass the broken
installer entirely by pulling the pre-patched 6.14 core application files
from your old computer and dropping them onto the new, activated system.

PREREQUISITES:
- Your new PC must already be successfully activated on LR 6.0 using the
  offline request/response method.
- You must still have access to your old PC where Lightroom 6.14 was
  previously running.
- A USB flash drive or external hard drive.

STEP-BY-STEP WORKFLOW:

1. COPY FROM THE OLD PC:
   - Boot up your old computer and insert your USB flash drive.
   - Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\
   - Locate the folder named "Adobe Lightroom". (This contains the
     fully patched 6.14 execution files).
   - Right-click the "Adobe Lightroom" folder, select Copy, and paste
it directly onto your USB drive.
   - Eject the drive and turn off the old computer.

2. PASTE TO THE NEW PC:
   - Ensure Lightroom 6.0 is completely closed on your new computer.
   - Plug the USB drive into the new computer.
   - Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\
   - Paste the "Adobe Lightroom" folder from your USB drive into
     this directory.
   - Windows will prompt you that files already exist. Select:
"Replace the files in the destination".

3. VERIFY:
   - Launch Lightroom on the new PC.
   - Go to Help > About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.
   - It will now explicitly display Version 6.14 (Camera Raw 10.1).

WHY THIS WORKS SAFELY:
The new computer's Windows registry already holds your valid offline
license token from your 6.0 activation. By overwriting the folder, you
are not changing the license; you are simply replacing the outdated 6.0
engine with the 6.14 engine. No internet connection or broken installer
wizards are required, completely removing the risk of a 7-day lockout.
