There is no longer any on-line activation for Lr 6. To do the move, you will need to follow these instructions https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/ and then to install Lr 6 you will need to use the offline activation method https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/lightroom-6-on-a-new-pc/m-p/14638713#M580921

I have heard conflicting information about whether you can re-install Lr 6 if you have two previous activations that have not been de-activated. The only really way to find out is to try it.

Not one of the links work, but that’s fine I still have a copy of v6 and the patch. It’s the process to follow that I can’t find. There was one link about how to activate offline, but the link is dead.
Edit: I’ve just realised the link to LR download does not indicate anything is happening, but my computer is actually downloading LR 6 LS11.exe. Which is great to know the download still works, although that’s not what I need as I retain a copy of the software. My problem will be getting it licenced again when my new computer comes, as I’ve just logged into my adobe account and there’s no record of my purchase of Lightroom 2,3,4,5,or 6 in there.

I have found my old account buried in the archive. It still has all my old serials for all the adobe things I own. It also says there is nothing activated on any machine. God knows how because LR6 has been installed on the broken computer since 2016. But hopefully, I should be fine reinstalling now.

I just need to know who to go to to explain my story so I can reinstall and license Lightroom to my new computer. I’ve used it since it was first released, I can’t do without it. Can someone please explain the process?
So my computer died on me and following tech advice, I checked the SSD, and the RAM, and DISM, and a bunch of other things until finally I was asked to use Window’s own repair tool. It was not straightforward but eventually I had to reinstall windows but keep all my old files.
But Windows crashed again and eventually I ended up with nothing, computer completely wiped. It turns out there was a chip and a couple of small components burned out on the motherboard.
Anyway, the only problem I have with the new computer is installing all the software back onto it. Lightroom v6.14 is the only one that causes a problem as I have to use the licence, but if I did not deactivate the licence previously (which I could not do) then I can’t reactivate it.
(Sorry for the long story but the prompt told me to keep all detail. )
So, I just need to know who to go to to explain my story so I can reinstall and license Lightroom to my new computer. I’ve used it since it was first released, I can’t do without it. Can someone please explain the process?

Hello,

I do have the same problem of still using Lightroom 6 and wanting to install it on a new Win 11 Laptop.

All links to offline activation of Lightroom 6 in the older posts are dead. Can someone send me please instructions for installing Lightroom 6 offline?

Thanks,

Gerhard

I am sorry, I got Adobe Photo Lightroom 5. Just checked with Adobe account.

Downloaded Lightroom 5 and installed it but when I try to open it I get a message: “Configuration failed”.

Mac OS x 11.7.11 Big Sur
I tried to install on MacBook Pro (Late 2013) and iMac 27 (late 2015) without any success.

What makes you think you have downloaded Lr 5? The links are clearly to Lr 6.14

I have a question and would really appreciate some help:

Where can I still download Adobe Lightroom 6?

I purchased Lightroom 6 some time ago and have a valid serial number. Unfortunately, I recently reset my computer and no longer have access to the software. After several moves, I also can’t find the original installation CD anymore.

The big problem is that my Lightroom catalog contains around 20 years of photo archives—thousands of images that I currently can’t access.

I already contacted Adobe support by phone, but the conversation was quite frustrating. The only suggestion I received was to look for solutions in online forums.

So my question is:
Does anyone know where I can still download Lightroom 6, or how I can regain access to my existing catalogs?

I would be very grateful for any help!

Try the offline-activation method described here:

Bonjour,
Je dispose d’une version perpétuelle de Lightroom 6 et d’un numéro de licence.
Je parviens à installer le produit.
Mais ensuite, un message apparait me demandant de me connecter au site Adobe.
Je me connecte et rien ne se passe.
Pourquoi ?
Merci.

I have run the installation process but when I get to the “Enter the serial number” stage, the list of LR versions doesn’t include v6 and my serial number is not accepted against v4.

I am guessing, but first you have to enter a valid Lr 4 serial number to convince the software that you actually did the upgrade, and after you enter the valid Lr 4 serial number, it will then ask for your Lr 6 serial number.

After that you will likely have to use the “Offline Activation Method” for Lr 6 — see the post from @Eldiin at

Or maybe you can just start with the “Offline Activation Method”. It’s hard to say definitively, so its up to you to experiment if necessary.

I think it might be the other way round, i.e. after installing LR6 then launching it asks for a serial number, at which point the LR6 serial number should be entered. Assuming that serial number is related to an upgrade, rather than a full license, LR6 will look for a qualifying earlier-version serial number. Being a different PC, it won’t find one, so asks for the qualifying serial number to be entered manually, at which point the LR4 serial number should be entered.

But it was a long time ago, and my memory isn’t what it was.

Yes, that’s the problem with giving Lr 6 advice, it was a long time ago.

I have a valid version of LR 6 with a serial number originating from LR4 (I upgraded a couple of times to get to v6).  I have used this for many years but now want to use it on a different computer.  I have run the installation process but when I get to the “Enter the serial number” stage, the list of LR versions doesn’t include v6 and my serial number is not accepted against v4.  My Adobe profile is up to date and references the correct version and serial number.

How do I complete the install?
