There is no longer any on-line activation for Lr 6. To do the move, you will need to follow these instructions https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/ and then to install Lr 6 you will need to use the offline activation method https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/lightroom-6-on-a-new-pc/m-p/14638713#M580921
Adobe does not provide technical support for any issues regarding Lr 6.
To install Lr 6, use the offline activation method. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lightroom-6-sign-in-required/m-p/14822708#M376764

Lightroom 6.x required activation whereas Lightroom 5 and earlier didn't. Unfortunately, Adobe activation servers that Lightroom 6.x need are no longer operating.

After a Windows 10 crash and new installation, I am trying to install my Lightroom 6.14 from the installer EXE file that I have on hard disk. It decompresses everything, but then it will not let me sign in to Adobe. Instead it gives me this message: "Update your browser. To use Adobe services, please update your Adobe applications, operating system, and browser to the latest versions." Browser and OS are new! I also have the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app installed. How do I get it to install my Lightroom 6.14 now?

Unfortunately, Adobe has turned off the servers required to allow LR 6 to be activated. So you'll have to buy a LR subscription.

Problem solved! I now have Lightroom 6.14 up and running -- installed and with offline activation. The method is described in this Adobe post:

I should mention that I first uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Manager, advice in another Adobe Community post. With my PC offline (both Ethernet and WiFi OFF), I could then install the LR 6 installer package using the provided key sequence. Activation is a bit complicated, but it works!

This post still contains valid links explaining how to download Lr 6 and how to install it:
@Fargonz please when you download the Lr 6 installer file, SAVE IT somewhere that you can find it again in the future if you need it (for example, save it in a folder named LR 6 INSTALLER). There's no guarantee that the installer file will be available to download in the future.

Hi there,
first thanks to all that answer questions here!
I have installed LR6 on one machine. I guess to install and use it on another machine (going on vacation for 3 weeks) i need to at least sign of on my main machine.
My Problem is to manage this. In my account on activated devices i do not see any device, thus i am not able to remotely sign off one device?
Is there a way to fix this? Is it supposed to be and stay empty? Within Licenses i see the LR6 license.

At this place you see only devices you're activated CC applications on.

In Lightroom 6 you have to deactivate the apprepriate installation to make the license available for a installation of another computer.

Hello all
I changed laptops (both), and wanted to reinstall 6.14
I have the installer files, and am aware that I need to use offline activation
Problem is that it seems that the registration server kept a trace of previous installs:
I still have access to the old devices, so I reinstalled LR6.14 on both (I had cleaned their drive), and used offline activation on both. It worked, so that means that these are the two devices that the offline activation server knows about.
I have then uninstalled LR on both old machines, using the Creative Cloud app, and then signed off the Creative Cloud app on both old machines.
But the offline activation still fails with the same message when I input the request code for the new machine.
Can someone please assist, and deactivate old device IDs? I can give the Mac serial numbers of the old devices in this thread if needed

The Creative Cloud app doesn't has anything to do with Lightroom 6. Even if you can and has uninstalled LR6 via the app, the license has been released. BEFORE you uninstall Lightroom 6.x you have to deactivate the approriate installation in Lightroom itself.

Abode has stopped supporting Lightroom 6 serveral years ago and the stopped also the possibility to reset the activation counter. So nobody can help.
If you can reinstall Lightroom on the old devices you has to do it and deactivate the licenses. If this doesn't work you're out of luck.

"The Creative Cloud app doesn't has anything to do with Lightroom 6"
Correct.! In fact IIRC having the CC App installed converts Lr6 (Serial Number version) to Lr-CC2015 (the 'subscription' version) of Lr6- only useable (after the 30day trial) by paying the monthly/yearly subscription.

OK I'll reinstall it again on one of the old devices. I'm going to reformat HD, to be sure I have no trace of the CC app.
Then I'll look for a way to deactivate license before uninstalling it. But I don't recall seeing an option in LR6
Will post updates.
Thanks

As far as I remember right (the last time I saw Lighttoom was almost 10 years ago), there's a menu point "Deactivate..." or so in the Help menu.

It is my understanding that for Lr 6, there is no longer any activation or deactivation, as the server that did that is no longer running. This is why the offline activation procedure is necessary to install Lr 6. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-information-regarding-lightroom-6-x-p...
