Release 14.2 cannot open Lightroom edited photos in Photoshop 26.5 or Photoshop Beta 26.6. Opens Smart Objects without a problem.

This is what happens when I try to edit Lightroom images in Photoshop (either the standard version or Beta vestion 26.6) Photoshop opens, but the lightroom images do not.  When I use the workaround of opening Lightroom files (one at a time) as smart objects, I can edit and save them.  But I receive an error message. The file saves, but does not return to Lightroom.  I can then go to Lightroom and manually import the image.  This works, but it's an awkward kludge.   I think the problem started either when I updated to Beta 26.6, or the current standard version.  It affects all my Macs.   I am running Sequoia 15.4 on Apple silicon.

I have the same issue, so please indicate if any of these approaches fixed the problem. I haven't tried any of them since I don't want to waste the time if they don't work. I'm using a MacBook Pro and cannot open RAW files in PS via LR whatsoever, so while attempting to combine a stack of image exported from LR, the app will launch, but none of them will open.

I have the same issue on PC.  

Trying to open a LrC edit in (PS Beta) just doesnt work anymore.

Ive tried opening DNG's, PSD,s CR2's JPG's and each as  Open as Smart Object in PS (beta), Open in PS Beta, Open as layers in PS Beta nothing works.

Someone did suggest Exporting the file, as PSDF and in the Post Processing tab After Export drop down box, select Open In PS (beta). THis does open directly into PS(Beta) but on saving it saves as a new image and you then have to Synchronise the folder again. 

Which is painful when you have many images from a photoshoot to process.

Luckily I can export with LrC adjustments into Luminar Neo and the Topaz products, so Ill have to give Ps a break until this is sorted.

Seems to have bene the last update that messed things up.

Plesae advise us all on a solution, for both PC & Mac.

SUCCESS!!! I just uninstalled both PS 2024 and PS (Beta) then installed PS (Beta) 26.5.0 and it’s working, I can now open my RAW files in PS with no problems. So the latest beta edition has issues, and possibly the latest PS 2024 edition does too.

And by the way, I went onto the Adobe site and used the Virtual Assistant in an attempt to find a resolution and got some suggestions although nothing about installing an earlier edition…so go figure.

I managed to get resolved by, uninstalling Photoshop, then installing a older version.

I had the same problem. Follow R0ryS' way: Uninstallling the newest and installing 26.4.1 has solved the problem (I hope not only for now:).

Hello everyone. I would like to report that I am experiencing exactly the same issue. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both software applications, but to no avail. I will try reverting to an older version, but I hope the issue will be resolved so I can use the latest version.

@R0ryS , @ümit kivanç , @Studio Vetroblu I've the same issue and I deinstall the Beta version of Photoshop and reinstall (without deleteing the preferences) Photoshop 26.5. It isn't necessay to go back to an older Photoshop version.

Hi, thanks for reaching out and we're sorry about the trouble! Would you mind telling us the version of Lightroom Classic you're using? What happens when you try to open the images as Layers? Are you getting an error or message? 

Do the images open in Photoshop when you select Edit in > Edit in Photoshop?

Als ik een foto naar PS beta stuur wordt de foto niet weergegeven, maar als ik naar PS met slim object dan wel. Als ik de foto wil opslaan komt hij niet in LR terecht en in PS krijg ik een foutmelding. Wat moet ik doen?

It's now March of 2025 and still Adobe have not fixed this issue.  My install is LR Classic v14.2 and PS 26.5 and for the first time I am seeing this issue. I for one find it irreprehensible that Adobe can charge nearly $700 per year for their product suite and let their users suffer (at great expense, mind you) with these types of issues, and for years.  Adobe has no consequence for their errors, we are shackled to their products and cannot escape and they know it.  I first started buying Adobe in 2015, nearly a decade ago. That's thousands of dollars I've have diligently forked out for a hot mess of never ending issues. The minute some enterprising company develops code that will ingest my catalog into their system, I am forever looking at Adobe in my rearview mirror. 
For context, Adobe pays Shantanu Narayen, their CEO $45M per year.

Also, when I tried to open the file as a smart object in PS the file does open, but when I try to save the changes I get an error 21: undifined is not an object

I did a sky replacement. While the file did save to the hard drive, it would not save back to LRC

La única forma es exportar la imagen y luego abrirla en PS

El resto de ediciones, Nik, Topaz, etc sí que funcionan desde LR

¿alguna sugerencia?
