Paper Size is missing

My environment:

  • MacBook Pro M1 Max
  • Lr Classic: 14.0
  • Printer: EPSON SC-P700

The issue is about available in printing module paper sizes and paper handling. Let me show you some screenshots:

  • Paper sizes in LrC:

Zrzut ekranu 2024-10-17 o 00.03.38.png

As you see e.g. 10x15 (4x6") format is missing. As well as A3+ is missing (however you may use SuperB/A3 instead). Thanks to the Custom Size option I defined 10x15 but LrC produces very strange results (please ignore the color quality of the photo of the printing):

IMG_8695.jpg

Printing parameters: "rotate to fit, maximum size (margins 0,3cm).

  • In opposition, Ps sees the available formats as follows:

Zrzut ekranu 2024-10-17 o 00.13.39.png

As you see 4x6 is pre-defined but what is more interesting - printing is 100% proper.

To complete the problem. Standard MacOS viewer shows the following formats for this printer:

Any idea what is wrong? Any workaround?

Regards,

Tomek

After plenty of tests, I found a very strange workaround. To properly print on 10x15 (4x6) paper size you can't use user-defined size (see my previous post on how the printing looks like) but you have to use an existing paper format and adjust cell size and it's a position to receive proper prints.  Here is the configuration that works for me:

Dear Moderator.

Please explain what is the difference between BUG and DISCUSSION. Who is going to make a decision about what I described - a bug, not a discussion?  If the discussion is about the bug why it is removed from the "bug" section?

A little bit confused ....

Regards,

Tomek

I cannot reproduce your issue.

Here is a screen capture of Lightroom Classic 14.0.1 on Mac 14.7 showing the 4x6 inch paper.  (Epson P800)

The problem is likely related to the print driver for your printer.  It may need updating or reinstallation.

I also have an L800 printer and I confirm it. On the L800, the 4x6 paper size is available in the LrC list of paper sizes, just like it is on other basic printers, such as Canon. However, that's not quite what we're talking about here. The list of available paper sizes is a minor issue with the SC-P700 because the user can define any paper size (directly from LrC) and use whatever they want. I did that (user-defined 10x15). And here lies the real problem: the way it prints. The image is reduced, off-center, with large margins at the top and on the right side—far from the margin definitions in LrC (see the printout photo). Also, note the workaround description—I had to define very strange margin sizes to achieve the desired effect (screenshot sent).

At first, I thought, just like you, that it was a driver problem. But if it's a driver problem, why is it only an issue with LrC? Why does Ps2025, not only have the size defined on the list (4x6), but also print perfectly on the SC-P700, without any changes in position, size, or margins? Moreover, it also prints well on the user-defined size (10x15). If it's a driver problem, why does the system's file viewer or the Epson Photo+ program print correctly, just like Ps2025?

Isn't it the case that LrC has a problem with drivers for more advanced printers (like SC-P700), but only with smaller formats? Because LrC handles A4, A3, and A3+ prints correctly.

There doesn't seem to be a printer driver for MacOS 15 - at least none for my printer (SC P800).

I assume you refer to the EPSON support page. But in my case, when I deleted the printer and added it again, MacOS recognized it and installed it in both cases: cable and IP.

I've seen scattered reports of Sequoia and printing issues, but I do not know if that explains what you are seeing. Notably, in testing on the two Macs I've tried, they have both been on 14.7. I've heard, unofficially, that 15.1 is supposed to address these issues.

The recent upgrade (14.0.1) for LrC does not solve my problem. It made it even worse—there is a bigger margin at the bottom of the print.
