Hello everyone,

does anyone have any problem while editing with lightroom  when you're trying to put a preset with a picture from the Nikon Z6 ?  It turns into magenta, I've readen some problems with the white balance for the nikon Z6, but apprently the last version with lightroom resolved it, but I still can't really use any preset.

If someone can answer me and help me out I'd be so thankfull for that,

Have a great day/night

Edwin

I have the same problem in Lightroom CC 8.3 despite downloading the new presets and updating as default. The same file opened in DXO PhotoLab is rendered correctly.

I have the same problem in Lightroom CC 8.3 despite downloading the new presets and updating as default.

To troubleshoot, we'll need more detail, using Adobe's terminology:

1. Do the menu command Help > System Info and copy paste the first ten lines here. Unfortunately, the CC updater fools many people into thinking they're on "the latest".

2. By "downloading the new presets", do you mean you downloaded the version 2 profiles for the Z 6, as described here? https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/white-balance-issue-color-cast-with-nikon-z-6-raw-file.html

White balance issue or color cast with Nikon Z6 raw file . Camera profiles are different than a Develop presets, which appear in the Presets panel in the left column of Develop. If you indeed have 8.2 or later installed, the version 2 profiles get installed automatically.

3. By "the same problem", do you mean that when you first edit a Z 6 raw file in Develop, it has a normal white balance, but when you apply a Develop preset (using the Presets panel on the left), the photos take on a magenta cast?  If you mean something different, please provide details.

  1. Lightroom Classic version: 8.3.1 [ 201905241238-dcd7e2de ]

License: Creative Cloud

Language setting: en-IE

Operating system: Mac OS 10

Version: 10.14.5 [18F132]

Application architecture: x64

Logical processor count: 4

Processor speed: 2.9 GHz

Built-in memory: 32,768.0 MB

Real memory available to Lightroom: 32,768.0 MB

  1. To use Adobe’s terminology, yes, I mean the downloaded profiles - and thank you I do know the difference between presets and profiles as I have installed both. See screenshot here:-

  1. I mean that when a Nikon Z6 file is imported to Lightroom CC it has a strong magenta colour cast. The same file, imported to DXO PhotoLab, is rendered correctly.
  2. On a separate matter, the Adobe Creative Cloud management app is crashing on a regular basis and needs to be repaired or reinstalled.

My current best guess at what's going on is something to do with Camera Presets (Under Treatment: Profile). Adobe release an update to address a major tint issue. They created a profile called Camera Standard v2 that's used just for Nikon Z6.

A lot of presets are now using this profile option (creating their own profiles) and I've noticed about a 1/3 of my presets are having the same issues as you. I believe the profile option gives you features you can't access through just the normal edit sliders. I have a feeling it's more to do with presets that use some feature not found in the sliders and how it interacts with the Z6 RAW file.

My guess is that it's how the profile is interacting with the RAW file. I don't know if Adobe has done a poor job implementing the RAW files for the Nikon Z6 or if Nikon changed the RAW file on the Z6 so much that it's responding differently.

I'm sure Nikon and Adobe will point fingers at each other, and hopefully, sooner or later they figure it out. Until then I've had to rework my presets to deal with this problem. Or we can wait until preset makes adjust their presets to deal with this shortcoming.

I haven't tested any of this on the Z7, just the Z6. But I have a feeling it will affect both bodies.

Just a thought!

When presets are created there is an option to check the box for [Treatment & Profile].

Unless you have updated the presets, this option may still be 'seeing' the 'old' profiles.

Try updating a preset with a 'new' Z6 profile active on one raw photo..
