This shows up on Windows 10 PC with AMD CPU/GPU e.g. upon export as JPG.

Afterwords it is marked with an explanation mark in the library:

This happens arbitrarily for sveral images imported in the past, that could be exported without problems by the previous release. Since the DNG-Files can be opened externally without problem and can be reimported and the error dissapears, I suspect a bug or instability with the with the enhanced for new features of the DNG component reading older legacy DNGs.

"DirectX: AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics (31.0.21024.5005)"

That graphics driver is two years old. While it probably isn't the cause of your DNG issue, LR is very sensitive to bugs in graphics drivers (of which there are many).  Update to the latest driver from here:

Glad it resolved the issue. But I'm very surprised it did -- that's the first report I've seen of a buggy driver causing problems with importing DNGs (or other file types).

The instability and corrupted file is most likely due to hardware malfunction, which could be intermittent. This could be the disk where the photo is stored, or memory chips, or maybe the motherboard or GPU.

I don't think this is a Lightroom Classic bug, because no one has reported this yet, and LrC 14.4 has been available for about 2 weeks now. This black exclamation point icon in a circle has been reported occasionally in earlier versions of LrC, so I doubt it is specific to a single version.

Building on dj_paige's reply: When DNGs get corrupted, they often can still be viewed with other apps that only display the JPEG preview embedded in the DNG, not the raw data itself.   If you share one of the problem photos, we can see if the DNG is indeed corrupted or there is a problem with LR 14.4.  Upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if the issue is specific to your computer or occurs on other installations.
