Weird pixel / image artifacts with DNG photos on Develop module (Windows 11/ AMD 5800X / 6950XT GPU)

Hello everyone, 

 

This is my first time here, please excuse me if I'm not following the guidelines to correctly create a post about my issue. 

 

My problem can be easily seen on these screenshots : 

 

  1.  You can see on the left hand the photo (main screen) without weird pixels vs right screen with some coloured pixels.

  2. Sometimes it happens on both monitors :

What I've noticed : 

  • It happens randomly and sometimes it crashes until i force the task to end. 
  • It started after updating to V13, maybe a bit after but not before.
  • It only happens while on Develop module and it is triggered by doing an action (through the sliders, creating a mask, etc.)

What I've tried :

  • Delete and reinstall LrC through Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Use Graphics Processor = Off 

 

I don't know if this issue is related to this post :

It worked for me to go into Adrenaline Radeon Software and remove Lightroom and Photoshop from the games, and disable functions like Super Resolution, FreeSync, etc.

From what I see, the problem is that Radeon Software optimizes these apps as games and that generates conflicts at the moment when deactivating that, everything works for me ok,

is specific to Macs and appears to be caused by Mac OS including a buggy driver for a couple of older AMD GPUs.  Whereas this thread is about Windows.

It may be that the version 24 AMD Adrenaline utility has started automatically applying a "gaming" profile to LR Classic. Some have reported that disabling the profile and "optimizations", restoring the default settings, lets the version 24 drivers work correctly with LR:

Thanks, i'll give it a try. The examples shown in this thread are different from my case though but it's free to try 🙂 In any case I do confirm that Adrenalin detected LrC and Ps as a game, they were present on my library. I just disabled every feature or put it to "Use application settings".

There have been many reports now in this forum about AMD's version 24 Adrenaline utility incorrectly setting "optimizations" for LR and producing a wide range of misbehaviors.  To help others, please update this thread with how you get on.

I'm having exactly the same problem I think the common problem is AMD
My CPU is Ryzen 5 5600G and I have an RX 6600
I have also reinstalled drivers, reinstalled Windows and installed other versions of Lightroom and it persists

is it still like that? I updated and also trying LR 13.3 but I still have a lot of problems. Denoise enhance preview screen is showing me purple or other weird colors, my color grading wheels are also in some weird colors Screenshot_70.png

@Kris26350023jowz, If you're on Windows, try updating your graphics driver by going directly to the manufacturer's web site:

If that doesn't help, please copy/paste here the entire contents of the LR menu command Help > System Info -- that will let us see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.

Brief update:

 

After turning off every option in Adrenaline as sugested, i haven't seen the artifacts no more, even with LR GPU Accel option turned on. I'll update again if i encounter again the same issue. Thanks!

@Edgar Zambrano, thanks for the update. AMD really screwed up by setting non-default "optimizations" for LR in version 24, and this is tripping up many people.
