When Saving a Preset in LrC, the Group Keeps Reverting Back to "User Presets"

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and provide help.  I'm guessing that my problem is a simple enough one, though I'm unable to find a resolution online.

When saving a Preset in Lightroom Classic ("LrC"), as a standard the "Group" that it saves under defaults to the last one which was used (see the 1st attached screenshot).  For me, this has been the case for the last several years that I've been using LrC, and it makes sense so that when you're editing photos from an event, every time a Preset is saved you shouldn't need to reselect the same Group.  That would be such an annoying waste of time!

About a month ago, I noticed that instead of this continuing to be the case where the default Group is the last one which I had selected, it has been reverting back to the original "User Presets" Group each time, including while I'm editing photos from a single event like a Wedding which I am currently editing.  I want each Preset to save in the same Group/ Folder, and not have to reselect that same group each time.  And as I've learned, I was right thatg this is an annoying waste of time!

I haven't been able to figure out how to resolve it through online search results, so here I am seeking your advice.
