(Windows) Takes 1 Minute or more to move between images

Since upgrading to Lightroom Classic 13.3, the performance has become extremely slow.
Various operations have become very slow; for example, it takes about a minute to move to the Develop module or to move between images in the Develop module.
There were no issues when using Lightroom Classic 13.2.
Is there anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

I have about 200,000 images in my catalog, so that might be one of the reasons, but since it was working fine with version 13.2, I suspect that there might be some degradation associated with upgrading to 13.3.

I use the internal nvme card which is blazing fast. Unfortunately this didn´t fix my issue. only reverting back to 13.2 helps. I didn´t want to install 13.4 because I didn´t want to revert back again.

Hi,

I have 6GB of VRAM and still having this issue. The only thing that helped for me was reverting back to 13.2. You can do this through the creative cloud app (previous versions).

Very bad that Adobe isn´t taking this slowdown more serious. The answer from Adobe support is just not knowledgeable.

My computer has 64gb RAM and a beefy 24g Nvidia new GPU. For whatever is causing my issue, it's not a lack of hardware oomph. Sounds like Adobe trying to shift the blame...

Note this thread is specific to LrC issues that began between versions 13.2 and 13.3. So is not about PS at all.

- He instalado la versión 13.2,

LrC 13.3 CR 16.13
Same serious performance issues here.
Simple switching from Grid view to Develope can take a couple of seconds. Making adjustments takes a while too.
All this with Cataloges Optimized, Cache space available, latest nvidia drivers installed and so on.
Interestingly enough it wasn't so slow while working on a different folder the other day. Is it because I didn't use Lens Blur or because there were 300 photos instead of 700?
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
OS build 19045.4412

I look forward to the next Lightroom Classic Beta update with the performance improved.

I am experiencing the same problem. Painfully slow, especially when using masks. Together with the map search/ map module problem, I think I have to go back to the previous version. I can't wait another month for the next version, when these problems might be fixed (or not).

By far the worst performance hit I have seen.  I was already dealing with unresolved sync issues for the previous two weeks when I was told to wait for the update which would correct those.  The update to 13.3 not only didn't correct the sync issues, but now my workflow has come to a standstill.  I think culled about 300 images last night which took more than an hour.  Every picked photo took 10-15 seconds to update and I noticed edits updating and reverting back to previous settings.  I can say with certainty this is not a video driver update issue.

Two inquirys/observations

1. Is LrC, without your telling it to do sso, just Busy Busy Busy, syncing to the Cloud? I am not a cloud sync user, so I do not have this issue. Apparently the new SYNC in v13.3 is a huge bug, As in Adobe realy blew it this time.

2. You GPU driver:

Graphics Processor Info:
DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (31.0.15.3203)
Init State: GPU for Export supported by default
User Preference: GPU for Export enabled

So, v532.03 , released May 18, 2023. a bit old. Ancient for LrC. At NVIDIA the current Studio driver is shown as v555.85 released May 21, 2024

I'm having the same issue with 13.3.

Super slow! I've optimized and updated everything on my PC. But still Lightroom is slow. What used to take 1.5 hours now takes 4-6 hours. And it's been syncing images to the cloud for almost 4 days straight and still hasn't finished.  I also tried uninstalling LRc completely and reinstalling...But same problems.

What's even weirder... When I check the CPU usage, I've got about 3 or 4 cores (out of 16) running. And CPU usage never goes above 20%, usually hovering around 6%. And GPU is like 1%-3%. So it's not even utilizing my PC very well.

Adobe! Please fix this quickly. I have deadlines. I also have too many collegues pressuring me to switch to Capture One. This doesn't help.

+1 - same here.

Windows11, high-end GPU, 64-gb ram, both O/S and Graphics drivers completely updated.

Lightroom 13.3 is probably the WORST upgrade I've had from Adobe. Since 1994. It's horribly slow and painful. (And Lightroom's slowness was already the main complaint I had coming over from ACDSee years ago.)

This is a black-eye Adobe. I work in SW; and in my teams whoever manages QA or Acceptance Testing on this project would be fired. Going back is nearly impossible and also tons of work. I hope this gets resolved as the top-priority within the SW group responsible for these products.

Since updating to 13.3 my catalog has also become unbearably slow when the version right before was not an issue.  I even after the catalog was updated ran the optimization, cleared the cache and rebuilt 1:1 previews and made sure my GPU drivers are the latest and settings optimized on my 3090.  The system resources are not being taxed either so rolling back to the last version but wanted to add my name to the list for slow performance on the latest update.

Couple follow-ups:

1. I rolled back to 13.2. (Lost a few catalog/metadata updates, but fortunately hadn't done a lot since upgrading.) So far performance seems fine as it was before the catastrophic 13.3.

2. From a few other forums & feedbacks I've seen, this could be correlated to LARGER catalog sizes. (Hint: Adobe - do real-world size/scale regression testing.)

I work in SW, and specifically in data/database related for most of my career. This could be, and is consistent with, something about their larger Catalog changes that missed some key performance aspects - like a database index or a newly non-optimal query. Tons of operations would relate to querying the catalog, and all of those seem painfully slow.

(That doesn't seem to explain all of it, but I wonder if could be related. Just in case any Adobe sw-eng folks read these.)

Great point.

I'm one of those photogs that has their entire body of work in one catalog. 500k+ images.  On 13.2, my catalog file was around 12GB. When I upgraded my catalog to work with 13.3, I noticed the catalog file jumped to a little over 20GB. Something about the upgrade seems to have made the LCat file chonky.

I have a tinfoil hat theory. Adobe is prioritizing apps for the masses instead of serious pro photographers. They created Lightroom (non-Classic) for the prosumer. This update will start a phase out of LRc for adobe. It makes sense from a business side of things. They can sell a lot more subscriptions to consumers and prosumers, so why waste time on LRc if it only gets them a small percentage of subscriptions.

I am experiencing the same performance degradation on 13.3. I didn't see those on 13.2. As described by other users above, even switching between photos can take 4-5 seconds or even longer. But sometimes it happens quickly.  I have shut down syncing to the cloud and also shut down writing of metadata to .xmp and jpg, etc. Please issue a fix to this as soon as possible. Thanks
