In short Adaptive Presets works on iPad 10th Gen and newer, but not iPad 9th Gen and older.
What device do you have?

Adaptive Portrait presets should still show. Is it possible you toggled this to hidden by mistake?
With Presets mode open, tap the 3-dots menu button at the top right of the app. Then select Manage Presets > Premium. Is "Adaptive: Portrait" toggled Off, and can you switch it On?

Hi @andywheels
What model iPad are you using? I believe Adaptive:Portrait has some minimum requirements, mostly avoiding 2 GB and 3 GB devices. I don't think there's been a change in requirements though, so I'm surprised is something changed for you on the same device.

@Charlie.D I'm using a 64 GB iPad (9th generation) running iPadOS 17.0.2 and that's what's strange because I was using adaptive portraits on this device just a few weeks ago. Also if I take a photo I previously used an adaptive portrait on, and try copying the settings onto a new photo, I get the message "Select people is not supported on this device."

I am experiencing the exact same issue. I hope you receive a response.

Adaptive Presets requires iPhone and iPads with 4GB RAM (or more). I am working with our Help team to update our help page for Presets to show the same device requirements/limitations that are already posted for Masking:

@Charlie.D Adaptive sky and adaptive subject presets are available on my iPad, just not adaptive portraits. You are correct that the article you provided says that iPad (9th Gen) is not compatible with features like Select Subject and Select Sky, which is not accurate as I am able to use both. Also might be worth noting, my iPhone 2020 SE only has 3GB RAM and I am able to use adaptive portraits on it. Thanks!

Hi @andywheels
Thanks for letting me know. I'll check with the team to confirm how Adaptive Portraits is allow-/deny-listed.

I'm having the same problem. I used Adaptive Portrait last week, and now it says, "No mask in the preset "Enhanced Portrait" could not be found." Every preset is like this in Adaptive Portrait, but all the other adaptive presets work fine. (Adaptive: Sky & Subject) Is there a fix for this? I have an iPhone12 Max

I have the adaptive portraits available but none of them work - I have the 9th gen iPad. Let me know if there's anything I can do, thanks!

If you're using the 9th Generation iPad, then other than upgrading to a 10th Generation, there's nothing that can be done to resolve the issue.
