@Aleke A simple speech bubble is giving me a huge headache right now. This started happening after I updated my Lightroom subscription. Before updating my subscription, it was working fine.

Hi @jKz_! Thank you for sharing the screenshot, it was really helpful to understand what's going on.

Seems like Lightroom is interpreting the entire bubble as part of the unwanted object, to avoid this I suggest using a smaller brush, or use the Clone tool to copy a clean part of the bubble and paste it over the text. Then, use the heal tool to blend leftover rough edges.

Hope this helps!

Noel

I cleaned up 600 speech bubbles without any problems. After I updated my subscription, the cleaner started distorting all my edits. I'm canceling my subscription.

Hi @jKz_,

Thanks for following up and sharing more detail. I tested removing speech bubbles using the Generative Remove tool and was able to achieve clean results, but it sometimes takes a few tries with different approaches.

Here are a few suggestions that may help:

  • Try using a smaller selection area when brushing over the speech bubble, rather than covering the whole shape at once.

  • You can also combine methods: first remove a portion of the bubble with Generative Remove, then refine edges with Clone/Heal.

  • Results can vary depending on the image and content. Generative tools often work best when you experiment with selection sizes and tool combinations until you get the desired outcome.

Could you try the steps above on one of your current files and let us know if it improves the output?

Best,

Anshul Saini
