Hi all,
I normally use LR Classic on pc but I am new to LRcc and to Apple ... and also to Face Recognition !
And I would like to know if it is possible to use Face Recognition locally on my iPad and not on the Cloud, please ?
Thank you

Face detection requires images to be uploaded, as it is all done in the cloud. There is no local option for this feature on iPad.

Thanks @Rikk Flohr: Photography and how should I do, please ?
I have imported 1350 images and touched the small Cloud (up right) to synchronise but it tells me there are 4070 awaiting to upload .... And it takes ages ! Is it also synchronizing the deleted images ??....

Hi @Pucca
Yes, LR on iPad will sync deleted images. To save yourself this effort, go into the Deleted album inside the Lightroom app, and tap the 3-dot menu and choose "Permanently delete all" -- this will remove any images that are still waiting to be synced, as well as images in the trash that are already synced. The point is when the trash is empty, you will no longer see any images in the trash to sync.
To enable people view, go into the iPad app settings > People View, and turn on People View. Once this is on, it will stay enabled for your account unless you turn it off later.

Thx very much @Charlie.D At last, I'm now with only my 1.350 images to sync.
But why does it take so long : half a day to upload only 20 images !! There are still 1.330 images to sync ...
My iPad is brand new, so it is quite empty, and I have a normal speed of internet connexion, so I don't know what may cause this problem ....

That does seem slow. What region are you in? I just tried uploading 50 images that are ~25 MB each, and these uploaded pretty quickly for me in about 10 minutes.
Are you leaving your device plugged in with Lightroom running? Lightroom has to be running for sync to continue, and plugging into power will allow LR to keep your device awake.
Do you use any kind of VPN or security software on your device?
If you try uploading similar images from a desktop web browser by signing into your account at Https://lightroom.adobe.com do they upload faster? When I have access to a desktop computer, and I have many files to upload, I sometimes use this Lightroom web app at this website as it offers the fastest possible upload. And it will still filter out duplicate images.

Thx @Charlie.D for all these tips, I actually have a VPN and thought it might be responsible (I am located in France) .... I am not very comfortable to upload big batches of images while iPad plugged to sector as they say the battery do not like that ?....
Last time your telephone support told me about https://lightroom.adobe.com I never could access to it during the whole (long) time we talked on the phone, the page just did not load ..... Now, I just succeded and, what a miracle, I can see my (very few) 22 uploaded images 😄 !!
But I cannot find how to upload the rest .... Could you tell me how to do, please ?
Thank you

If you temporarily disable VPN for your iPad, does that allow images to upload faster?
"I am not very comfortable to upload big batches of images while iPad plugged to sector as they say the battery do not like that"
--This is true, you do not want to leave any mobile or laptop device plugged into power all the time, but doing it for a day to get your images uploaded should not impact your battery too much.
Otherwise, if you are not comfortable using your iPad this way, and if you have a desktop computer you can use, then I recommend using lightroom.adobe.com in a desktop web browser to upload your images. I have uploaded 30,000 images this way. Sign into your account, and then drag-and-drop images from your SD card or hard drive into the Lightroom web app. YOu can even drag and drop into a specific album if you like. To prevent confusion, you might want to cancel the current upload from iPad by deleting the images and emptying the trash.

@Charlie.D I tried again Lightroom.adobe.com via desk computer but it told me it could not upload my images cos ... they are too heavy ! My files are from 26 to 35 Mo ....
Disabling my VPN did not helped, still as slow as ever (even with keeping my iPad awake) .....
But I tried on my iPad via Wi-Fi and it seems to work a little better : It uploaded 240 images within 1 hour ... It still seems slow to me, don't you think ? Are my images definitely too heavy ? (I have a full frame camera). What shall I do ??....
Not to mention I would much prefer to use my own internet connexion rather than a public Wi-Fi ....
I suppose enabling Wi-Fi AND cellular data at the same time will not help to upload faster as iPad will stick with the actual internet connexion it uses ? (hahaha !)....
There is also another thing that puzzles me : I signed into my account at CreativeCloud to see my uploaded images (too excited it could succeed, as quick as possible hopefully !) and in the view "Photos LR" there are 2 files, one called "All photos" in which there are the number of photos being uploaded (341 right now), and another file called the name of my file on my iPad and mentioning the total number of my photos (i.e. 1350), but when I look at the images into it, it seems to me that the 1350 are not all there and that there are in fact only the number of images uploaded (same as "All photos") .... Could you tell me what this is for, please ?
Thank you.

" tried again Lightroom.adobe.com via desk computer but it told me it could not upload my images cos ... they are too heavy ! My files are from 26 to 35 Mo"
--Could you share a screen capture of the error message? I have uploaded much large files than that, with no issue.
"Disabling my VPN did not help"
--Ok, thanks for trying. Sorry this did not help.
"But I tried on my iPad via Wi-Fi and it seems to work a little better : It uploaded 240 images within 1 hour"
--That sounds reasonable, given the size of your image files. What is the wifi upload speed of your connection? Also, your comment makes it sound like you might have been previously trying to upload over cellular data? From my own experience with my own personal mobile network, I could believe this is the reason for slow uploads. My mobile provider does provide great download speeds, but is slow for upload. They carefully choose words like "Speeds up to X mbit/sec" meaning you might see fast network or you might not, because they are trying to balance service across many users in your area. Anyway, I personally prefer WiFi whenever possible.
"enabling Wi-Fi AND cellular data at the same time will not help to upload faster as iPad will stick with the actual internet connexion it uses ?"
--This is correct. You device will favor wifi over cellular when both are active, and will not let Lightroom use both services simultaneously.
Regarding trying to view your Lightroom images with the Creative Cloud app, I personally don't know much about that. I can only speak from experience regarding the Lightroom Mobile app that I work on. It might help if you start a new post to ask about viewing images with Creative Cloud... A new post might get other users' attention, who can answer better than me.

"Could you share a screen capture of the error message"
-- I will return to work at that place this afternoon and send u a screenshot. It is a library's public wifi, maybe the reason ??....
"previously trying to upload over cellular data? From my own experience with my own personal mobile network, I could believe this is the reason for slow uploads."
-- Yes. Now I understand why Apple always insists that I use wifi to backup my iPad but without explaining ... Thx. I don't have a private wifi connexion that's why I favor cellular data cos I am not comfortable using public wifi. But now, I'll have to find a way for my uploads.
Resuming my upload this morning, still 335 to go ... All this made me lose 3 days of work, so even upload and facial ID are not finished, I begin to tag my images now.
But how do I move the persons that LR put in the wrong virtual folder, please ?
I want to avoid it tagging 2 persons with the same name ....
And also how do I manually change the tag of a person, please ?
Thank you

Hello again, @Charlie.D
I've been at the public library again and uploaded a few photos to make a screenshot for you but for some reason, they uploaded easily and I got lots of green success messages ! I hate it when it does like that, I know it sounds like a child now (hahaha!) but I was true, yesterday, it refused to upload the SAME images and I got red failure messages, and even orange warning message !....
Anyway, could you or anyone tell me please :
- how do I move a person that LR put in the wrong virtual folder to the right one, please ?
- And also how do I manually change the tag (the name) of a person, please ?
Because I believe that when I name the folders created by LR (the round image in the "Persons" view), LR will right this name on the metadata of each photo ?
Thank you for your help.

Hi @Charlie.D thank you. This is the first assignment I treat on my iPad and being new to Apple + to LRecosystem + to Face ID made me encounter problems I didn't not expected. It is always a privilege when your Team answer on our threads as you know very well your products and you know instantly and very precisely how to help us. Your personal experience gave me answers and helped me understand better how to work with LR on an iPad which is really a bonus. Thank you very much.
