Question

How to recover photos from Lightroom on account I no longer have access to

I had free access to Lightroom CC through my university. I stupidly didn't realize that original photos were only stored in the cloud (I thought I was using Lightroom Classic and not Lightroom CC, so I assumed the originals are still stored on your local machine). I recently deleted and reformatted the entire SD card which contained some of those photos to use it in a new camera because I thought the originals would be stored on my computer. To complicate matters, I graduated recently and can no longer access my school account, so tools like the Student Asset Migration Portal won't work for me.

I reached out to my school's IT to see what they could do but I'm not optimistic because they have this notice on their help page, which I didn't even think applied to me because I didn't even realize the originals were in the cloud:

PLEASE READ: Make sure to transfer ALL Adobe software data BEFORE you receive an @alumni email. Due to some updates policies with Adobe, any work that is not transferred will be erased and CANNOT be restored.

On Lightroom CC, I can still see all of the old photos but can't sign into my account obviously so can't access the original files. I'm really desperate here since there are a ton of sentimental photos on there (about 100 GB).

Is there anything at all that I can do here? I saw on this question that an employee suggested IT might be able to reach out to them for file recovery, but this seems to be at odds with the quote above. Has anyone been in a similar situation before?

Dude that was so sad, I just experienced the same issue! Losted all photos on the original university account cloud. Did you fig it out how to extract those files? Please let me know!
