P: Lightroom Paste Settings with Denoise creates color artifacts & pink overlays

Explorador ,
Jul 09, 2025 Jul 09, 2025

Hi,

Bug 1)  I've been running into this issue for a couple weeks now.  Whenever I copy edit settings, it'll paste fine onto one image, but if I try to paste onto another image, it does nothing.

Bug 2)  I also tried pasting onto multiple images at once and it turned a bunch of them weird colors until I let them update AI settings.  I think it might have something to do with the denoise features, TBH.

The attached green image is after pasting settings, but before updating AI.  Normal looking image is after updating AI.

-Matt

Edit:  I'd like to note that Bug 1 is intermittent.  I'd say it's like 1 in every 3 times I copy settings.  Sometimes it'll paste an infinite number of times, others I get one paste and I'm done.

A fix for this issue is pending in a future update.

It has been discovered that the root cause is batch pasting on the filmstrip while in loupe view. Batch pasting in Grid View should avoid this issue until a fix is released.

Thank you for your patience.

That is in no way practical. Sometimes I have several 600-800 photos to run Denoise on, which takes several hours. Sitting at my computer just to apply it to each one at a time isn't an option. It used to work fine.

To anyone else having this issue, revert to an older version of Lightroom from when it was still done through the 'Enhance' option, rather than how it is now.

I'm just checking back in to see if you were ever told about an actual fix to this yet? Months and I've not seen anyone speak of a fix other than the work around which adds entirely too much time to my workflow.

Version: 8.4

Build: 20250603-0500-10f89fb

Running on Mac Mini 2023 with Apple M2 Pro Chip on 16GB of Memory with macOS Sequoia 15.5

I applied batch edits to a group of photographs. After the batch edits pasted, several of my images now have this weird magenta overlay. Reminds of the old days when a form of light leaking would show up on film.

The AI edit tool I used in the first source image was the Detail > Denoise. I simply checked the box to enable it. I didn't adjust any of the Denoise settings.

If I select a single image there is an option to update the AI. If I run that update the image corrects itself. I don't want this to be a two step process. And seeing my images this way makes me worried about corruption.

Hey, @SpencerthePhotog, @OwleyMedic, @wolfesam, & @vlachjn. I'll help you figure this out.

Please press and hold the OPT + SHIFT key when you launch Lightroom the next time & click on 'Yes' when prompted to reset Lightroom's preferences.

After this, try to recreate the issue, record the steps that trigger the pink screen, and share a numbered list of steps that recreate this unexpected behavior.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Same. Been happening nonstop since the June update that moved the AI Denoise setting to the edit tab.

I have a batch of photos I want to edit, I import them. I apply the denoise setting to the first photo, copy settings, select the other photos, and paste (right click + enhance was way easier and always worked first try). The settings are copied over, then AI settings have to update, but there are always 10 or so images that are pink or orange like OP's image. Now I have to individually click on each image to update the AI settings, which already should've been done?

Yes, this issue sucks BAD, and going through them individually is not practical. I will say that if you install an older version of LR from when the pink thing wasn't an problem, it still works as it should. I went back to version 8.0 just so I could do the batch noise reduction. It's the only 'fix' I've been able to do. We shouldn't have to do that, but it's a bandaid if you really need it.

Same exact thing has happened to me. It happened when I tried to bath copy/paste the AI Denoise. To get rid of it, I have to go through every image, turn off AI Denoise, then turn it back on and allow Lightroom to process AI Denoise for each image individually.

Lightroom version 8.5.1 keeps experiencing what I assume is a glitch where it messes up some of my images. Currently, the best troubleshooting I've found is just clicking Denoise and redoing it. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, or a better way to troubleshoot?

I have to say that I am VERY DISAPOINTED in Adobe as they have not been able to rectefy this issue. This has a major impact on my work flow. I do 98% of my editing in LR and having to go to LRc to batch process Denoise imiages is unaccesaptable.

I recently had this exact issue. A dialogue box appeared stating the update was needed to render the AI effects, that fixed it.

Environment: Lightroom CC v8.5.1

Windows 11 Home 24H2 (Build 26100.4946)

AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX 3060

Files: Sony A7iii ARW, 24 MP (~50 MB each), locally cached

Issue:
When applying AI Denoise in bulk, affected images display pink/purple artifacts/overlays until each photo is manually opened and updated one by one.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Edit photos normally (color corrections, grading, AI masking).
  2. Apply AI Denoise at level 30 to one photo.
  3. Apply denoise to other photos by either (both reproduce the same issue)

       - Creating a preset, OR

       - Copy/pasting only denoise settings in Grid View.

4. After probably 10-15s of processing time per image, all affected photos show pink/purple artifacts - except the final image in the selection (what???).

5. Selecting multiple photos → Toolbar > Photo > "Update AI settings in X photos" opens a brief processing popup, but nothing changes. It does not lessen or resolve the artifacts.

Only opening each photo individually in edit view and clicking the popup “some AI settings need to be updated to properly render at original resolution” "update" resolves the issue.

Expected:
Bulk AI Denoise should process correctly across selected photos without requiring individual manual updates.

Actual:
Bulk-applied AI Denoise produces corrupted previews (pink/purple overlay) until each photo is opened and updated individually.

Troubleshooting attempted:

Toggled GPU hardware acceleration (on/off) → no effect

Closed all background apps to free CPU/RAM → no effect

Reset Lightroom CC preferences → no effect

Verified no third-party plugins/panels are installed

Impact:
This bug makes batch AI Denoise unusable for large sets of photos (hundreds). Manual updating photo-by-photo is impractical.

Original poster here. I found a workaround.

Edit: This workaround did not work reliably.

1. Dump all your RAW files into an Album

2. Make the album available offline

3. Bulk apply your AI Denoising

4. When the dialogue box "PASTING SETTINGS" appears, click "update AI settings later"

     - Now you should see the yellow tags on each photo that requires AI processing

5. Highlight all the photos & go to the toolbar > photo > update AI settings for x photos

6. Processing time

7. Vioala

I've tried various combinations of this workaround but this is the only way I can get the AI denoise to apply in bulk as intended.

For clarity, this this is not the "correct answer" - it's a janky workaround, a temporary fix.

The issue is not solved - LR team needs to fix this. I see other users having the same issue and I have cross posted this thread there to notify the adobe team

Edit: my posts have been merged into the big thread so am just editing for clarity

Environment:

  • App version: Lightroom CC 8.5.1 (Windows 11 Home 24H2, Build 26100)

  • Hardware: Ryzen 5 5600, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

  • GPU driver: NVIDIA Studio 581.29 (also reproduced with GPU acceleration disabled)

  • Photos: Sony A7III ARW files (~24 MP, <50 MB each), AND lightroom DNGs shot in the LR mobile app on an iPhone 13 pro max

Screenshot 2025-09-05 213302.png

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Import a batch of RAW files
  2. Exposure balance & Colour Grade
  3.  Bulk denoise by either: (a) applying a preset with (only) the 30% AI denoise setting or (b) copy/pasting settings from 1 photo with the denoise at 30% and pasting it in grid view

Expected Result:

All denoised images should display cleanly and consistently in the grid or detail view immediately after settings are applied and some processing time.

Actual Result:

  • Grid view and Detail view show usually magenta (sometimes green or yellow) overlays or color artifacts on images denoised in batches larger than 2.

  • Artifacts persist until each image is opened individually. Using the toolbar [Photo>Update AI Settings in x photos] does nothing. Only manually entering the photo in detail/edit view brings up a popup that says " from is triggered, at which point the preview refreshes and displays correctly.

Screenshot 2025-09-05 213331.png

Troubleshooting Done:

  • Disabling GPU acceleration does not prevent the issue.

  • Deleting the previews or proxies or originals folders under C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom CC\Data\<usercode>\ (with Lightroom closed) and forcing Lightroom to rebuild them does not prevent the issue either.

  • Clean reinstall (DDU) of NVIDIA driver and Lightroom CC has no effect.

  • Cleared local cache via Preferences → Local Storage → Clear Cache.

  • Tested smaller batches - anything more than 2 photos gives this issue.

  • Updated to current NVIDIA Studio driver (537.58).

  • I've made sure my drives all have more than 20% free space for lightroom to build & cache whatever AI models / previews it wants but no luck either.

Impact:
This slows down workflows significantly because each image must be opened manually to refresh AI Denoise previews, defeating the purpose of batch processing. SUPER FRUSTRATING

Request:
Please confirm if this is a known bug and if there’s a fix or an ETA for a patch. If a beta build exists with a fix, I’d be happy to test it.

My workarounds no longer worked so I tried a bunch of different things.. the solution that helped in the end was clearing drive space. I was running short of drive space.. less than 5% left on my 512GB SSD.

After reclaiming 100gbs+ of drive space the AI denoise function works very predictably and can be applied to many photos back-to-back (with approx same processing time per photo).

I'm going to mark the issue as solved, but I haven't seen any adobe reps recommend this fix. I actually think it should be one of the housekeeping things they recommend immediately when helping other users with this issue.

Unrelated to this issue but equally annoying and totally lightroom's fault is that I discovered it was storing 100gb+ of originals ARWs (raw files) in my appdata\local\adobe\lightroom cc\data\originals folder even though my cache setting was set to 25gb. It's not advised to manually delete these but I made sure my raws were backed up and then proceeded to annihilate the wasted space. What's the point of switching to cloud software and setting a cache size if the software is just going to ignore those settings??

Edit: clearing drive/disk space did not help - issue returned shortly after and my "fix" could not be replicated

I've recieved no reply from adobe and no assistance whatsoever. This thread has basically been me talking to myself. The mods have merged my threads and marked it as answered even though it hasnt been resolved.

I've had more time to use the feature & my supposed workaround and nothing works predictably. Ive done further troubleshooting including messing around with deleting the originals, previews and proxies folders (outlined in my second thread that has now been merged here).

It doesnt work! Such a broken feature.

I primarily do my batch pasting in grid view (because it gives me visibility on flags, ratings, AI edit status etc) so not sure you guys are hitting the nail on the head here. You'll also see in my post that I've documented all my issues in grid view because that's how I've been replicating the issue.

I miss being able to denoise multiple images at the same time. Now when I try to do it, it just bugs out and make the images look glithcy and weird. Hope the "Enhance" feature comes back to the new updates.

When I try to copy the image edit Detail>Denoise to multiple images at once, this happens (screenshot). Then I have to manually update AI settings, which is basically the same as applying the effect manually to all my images.

EspenFrivold_0-1759067364290.png
