I upgraded my lightroom and all my photos disappeared. I uninstalled the app, signed in and out, nothing has worked. I want my photos...any suggestions?

Hi brandobyanymeans,

Can you go to lightroom.adobe.com and sign in using your Adobe ID and see if your photos are visible there?

Is it possible you have more than one Adobe ID?

The same thing happened to me and I'm absolutely desperate. I use the mobile version, just upgraded and when the app relaunched all my presets and images are gone. Months of work!!!

What I noticed however is that the app still takes up the same space and the local drive still has 3 gb of data in it. However the cloud which is what Premium uses is empty. Is there a way to see what's in the local drive/access it/turn the cloud off?

For both of you, I wonder if you could post your mobile device model and OS version?

This might be a question best answered by someone on the Adobe staff like greule

HI Constanza, Hi Brandon. Sorry for your trouble here. Could you give me some more background-info in hope to get a clue about the cause of your issue. Did I get it right that you purchased a Lr Mobile subscription yesterday. If so could you describe the process you went through while doing it? E.g. could it be that you signed-out, then closed the Sign-in window via the top left x-icon and from there purchased the subscription....or do you have in use  a different adobe-id which is connected to a desktop Lr CC product?  - Guido

Thank you all for your reply. I figured mine out. It looks like when I downloaded the free mobile app I didn't log in, which iswhy the photos were being stored in the local drive/phone. But I had to log in when I purchased the paid version of the app, so once it relaunched, it showed my cloud storage - empty.

As soon as I signed out all my photos came back

(Now the only problem is I have to choose between having my old photos or using the pay-for features, but I'll take this up with the support chat)

Hi Costanza,

Thank you for contacting us.

Just to confirm the issue, when you log out of the Lightroom App, and sign in with the subscribed account all the photos that you imported earlier when you were using the application in the freemium mode disappears.  And as soon as you sign out of the account and re-launch the application the photos that you imported earlier come back.

Thanks

Deepak

Exactly. Do you happen to know how I could merge the two 'libraries'? It's very annoying to not be able to keep my presets in order to use the app at full capacity

Hi,

May I know, if were you using a freemium account and then subscribed to a paid account, and that's when all the photos disappeared from the Lightroom Application for Android.

Thanks

Deepak

Hi,

Though it was only a freemium account which I was using, all of the photos disappeared when I logged in after logging out. The purpose of logging out was the Lightroom CC getting tremendously slow. What to do to get the photos back?

So the same thing happened to me as soon as I upgraded to the paid version, literally all of my photos, albums and presets vanished. Adobe support said that was just the way it was when you upgrade. Why wouldn't Adobe tell you this beforehand. The whole reason I ended up deciding to upgrade was to be able to share the album I just finished editing and putting all together. So incredibly frustrating. Does anyone on here have a magic solution to retrieve my Lightroom photos and presets?

Which device do you have? One of the members of the Adobe team, I think it was Charlie says on another thread that they most possibly still be on the device. For instance if it's an Apple product then it may be worth checking iTunes file sharing

So I have an IPhone 10....and I figure they must be there somewhere
because it looks like the Lightroom App has 14GB of data on it.

Hello KVannucci

I'm sorry to hear about this.  If one upgrades from free-use to the paid version on the same device, this should not happen and isn't "just the way it is."  I'm not sure what went wrong here.

Usually loss of images like this happens when users sign into another account by mistake.  Or, some users uninstall / re-install the app with a free use (non syncing) account and hope the images will survive app deletion, or hope by subscribing later that images lost from deleting the free app can be recovered.  I'm not saying this is you, but mention this here in case it helps other users who read this post.

As long as you have not uninstalled the app, there's a chance images can be recovered!  The advice on this page might just help you recover images (minus edits and presets unfortunately): https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/recover-lightroom-mobile-photos-itunes-file-sharing.htm...
