Recent Nikon camera import uses generic EXIF lens info, breaks iOS LR's "lens corrections"

This applies to cloud-based Lightroom 8.3 for macOS and mobile LR version 10.3.0 for iPad (and other versions of both, I've seen this for a while - it doesn't seem like a new problem).
Attached is an example file from my D600 with a Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens (That is, I was going to upload it but I can't figure out how to make it upload - I get an error about content type image/x-nikon-nef not matching extension "nef" and it deletes my attachment, and can't figure out a way around it. So I'm attaching a version converted to JPEG, it still seems to show the same issue). To see the main problem I'm having, load this file in LightRoom for iPad and try to apply lens corrections. I find it does nothing. When I apply corrections in Lightroom for macOS, it also does nothing at first, but I can at least select the lens in the lens profile dialog. In fact, it finds the lens immediately as soon as I enter "Nikon" in the "Make" field.
Maybe it's unconnected, but Lightroom gives better lens metadata for all lenses on older Nikon cameras' raw files (such as D5100) than for newer models (such as D600 or D850). For example, one of my lens shows as "AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D" when I use it on a D5100, and as "85.0mm f/1.8". and the difference is similar for this one. It seems like on these newer cameras, Lightroom "knows" less about the lens used for a shot.
The more detailed information is definitely present in the image's EXIF data. For my attached image, "exiftool" shows that the "Lens ID" field is "AF Zoom-Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5D IF-ED", but Lightroom seems to be using the "Lens" field, which is "18-35mm f/3.5-4.5".
I also like to use old manual and weird 3rd party lenses for their flaws, and I can't set up Smart Albums for a different lenses with the same specs. I have a few different 50mm lenses that LR can't tell apart. (Also also, please bring Smart Albums to mobile, and let us search on arbitrary EXIF fields without creating Smart Albums!)
Incidentally, I wish I didn't have to resort to "exiftool" for reading the raw EXIF data. I frequently want information LR won't show me, such as which of various control modes were in use for the shot, whether VR was enabled, whether focus was auto or manual, etc.
