View Edit Pins in Lightroom CC

New Here ,
Nov 30, 2018 Nov 30, 2018

I'm running Lightroom CC. I've created a radial gradient on a photo. I'd like to go back and edit the gradient. I just can't find any way to view the edit pins and thus get in to edit it. In past versions of Lightroom, there was a "Show Edit Pins" menu in the toolbar that would let you choose a display mode (like "Always" view edit pins or "Auto.") … Does anyone know how to get edit pins to show up in CC?

Thank you everyone so much. This was super frustrating. I've finally figured it out.

I'm running Lightroom CC (not Classic) version 2.0.2.

The "Show Edit Pins" menu was the only reference I could find originally, but that menu doesn't exist in the version I have. Instead, I have to go to the "View" menu at the top of the screen, choose "Edit Tools," and choose "Show Overlay." I finally read something that mentioned gradients as being overlays … I guess … So that's what clued me in that it might w

Juliak,

You don't say which version number you are on so I'll assume it's a current one (not that it matters as this doesn't seem to have changed since forever).  Underneath the image in the develop module there is a tool bar and the first item on the tool bar is "Show Edit Pins" with a pull down where you can select when they do or don't show.  If you do not see this tool bar, press the letter "t" on the keyboard to show the toolbar (press again to hide it).

If this is a different issue where you see the toolbar but the "show Pins" item is not present, please make sure that you have the radial filter selected and that your cursor is in the image or the gray background area around the image (not in the Panel Groups area)

If that too is not the issue, can you add a screen shot?

Hope that helps -- Dan

You don't see the pin if you toggle the H key on and off?

If you are asking about LR Classic CC, the traditional version of LR, then when you open the local adjustment you have used down at the bottom of the main area (Where the image is displayed) on the left hand side there is "Show Edit Pins" Set it to Always of Auto.

Always the pins are always On, Auto the pins only show when the cursor is in the image area.

When "Show Overlay" is checked, edit pins will show up (as long as you have the tool selected that created the edit pins, like the radial gradient tool, or the linear gradient tool).

This was really confounding to me at first since the Lightroom tutorial I read/watched made no mention of how to turn this on or off. It just said if you wanted to edit a gradient, all you had to do was select the gradient pins, but I didn't know how to get them to show.

It turns out that in Lightroom CC, if you hit the H key, it selects the healing brush.

My version shows this:

As you can see, the pin is now toggled to visible.

Andrew, that's the LR Classic dialog....the OP is using LRCC.

juliak17682682, you can use the "O" key to toggle between the various overlay options, which includes showing the pins. But note that the overlay would be shown for whichever of the selective adjustment tools is selected.

Indeed, I missed that (and don't use LRCC) apologies.
