P: Customize UI

I was very disappointed when I started work today as I opened up LR Mobile (following the newest 4.3.2 update) and discovered that once again I have to change my entire workflow.

As a working professional who uses my iPhone to be my Lightroom main controller in front of a laptop (which one for finer adjustments and things mobile can't do), I used to be able to fly through my work. Now, and increasingly so with every update, I have to relearn my workflow with the added frustration of multiple new actions to complete simple tasks.

For example, if I wanted to auto-adjust the cropping, all I had to do was go to the geometry tab and hit a well-placed button up top. Now, I have to go to geometry and select a separate sub tab that of course isn't defaulted because more amateurish social media options have been made the initial landing under Geometry. More actions, spread farther apart on the UI, and it makes everything I do once again take longer. And the worst part? Every single time I go back I have to do the same thing as the app refuses to remember what I used on my last action.

I'm now at the point where y'all are literally constantly hurting my profitability. And all in the name of features that don't benefit us professionals who pay the lion share of the subscription fees Adobe collects. I can totally respect the need for businesses to attract new users. But this is repeatedly done to attract casual users at the expense of paying power users. Something has to give or I'm just going to move to something cheaper. The only reason I haven't so far is because the idea of hurting my own profitability by startling my a new system all over from scratch seemed unwise. Less and less so now with every LR update.

What I want out of this, as I've asked for in these forums, to Adobe support staff, and on social media, is for Adobe to allow us to customize our UI layout the way that works best for us. Nothing Adobe does (or ever will do) to pretend that we're all going to start posting all of our social media stuff through the LR app is futile and not what I'm paying y'all $60/mo. for. That's awesome that y'all want to continually add new features. But please stop assuming that's what most of us want or need and forcing those additions into the UI at the expense of our profitability. LET US CUSTOMIZE OUR TABS. Please.

As professional photographer and videographer, I switch back and fourth between Premiere and Lightroom regularly. One thing I LOVE about using Premiere is the ability to rearrange my editing interface, not just on one screen but across multiple screens. I love to be able to drag my timeline and effect panels to a separate screen which allows me to make the image preview much larger on my other screen. I get so used to being able to completely customize the interface whenever I want to adapt to when I’m just on my laptop vs when I hook up to my desk top monitors. So when I switch over to Lightroom, it would be incredible to be able to enlarge the image as much as my screen allows by being able to drag the film strip and edit panels to a separate screen.

That would be awesome indeed. I love that about Premiere too. Lightroom Classic is a lot more configurable then the cloudy version of Lightroom but still not as much as Premiere and most other Adobe apps with palettes that tear off and can go to other screens and such.
