Now that many of us are on iOS 18, I believe we would all appreciate the integration of its new features in concert with Lightroom, such as an Lr Camera launch option in the Shortcuts app and as a Lock Screen toggle 🙂

To clarify: I do see a Lightroom camera widget when customizing my lock screen and home screen. So, you can add a widget/button to open the Lightroom camera to your lock screen. What's missing is also being listed as an option for one of the "controls" on the lower right/left.

I believe this is the same hook/whatever that would get it listed as a button in the iOS 18 customizable Control Center—which would also be nice. I'm in full support! (Other camera apps like Halide and ProCamera have already hopped on board there.)

I'm not sure what functionality adding "launch Lightroom camera" would add to Shortcuts if it was added as a step there, though? I think the only Lightroom action is "Import Into Lightroom," which seems useful for workflows.

Are there other instances where Shortcuts can run that you'd need it to specifically open the LrM camera? (Assuming LrM camera was added to Control Center.) Genuine question, as I use Shortcuts some, but haven't run into many "open app in X state" needs with it!

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I was referring to the bottom toggle with respect to the Lock Screen (and by extension the Control Centre, though that was not my first thought).

I think adding the camera launch to the Shortcuts library could be an interesting case for voice commands, like uttering a specific word or phrase to Siri—thereby skipping swipes and hastily looking for the button during a good moment to capture, just a press, a word, and ready to capture.

Furthermore, I am sure that some creators will come up with ways to implement such a feature into other Shortcuts; once the option is there, ideas might come up.

Cool! Yeah, I think getting it as a capture option for the bottom left/right and Control Center would be great. (I am pretty sure they are linked, as I said, but can't be 100% sure.) The speed at which Halide and ProCamera tacked that on makes me think it's probably a pretty easy addition?

My other thought there is integration with the new Capture Button on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Very interesting idea on Siri and Shortcuts. Apple Intelligence may affect things there, too, as Siri theoretically becomes a bit more, uh... useful. (I'm not the biggest fan at the moment.) That's also obviously hardware-dependent.

I think the lock screen "controls"(/control center) button makes a lot of sense as a starting point, at least! I think it's probably down to how much use they see the LrM camera getting. But again, does seem like it could be an easy win. I hope they pick up on this!
