This worked!!! They had layer boundaries AND brush size set to use same key command. I turned off the shortcuts for layer boundaries in the “tools” shortcut window.
Thank you, poliwog. You really have to wonder how a developer could assign the left and right bracket keys to new functions without realizing the impact to the rest of PS. Probably not someone who actually uses PS.

Neither resizing of tools, no resetting of tools works. I cannot change the size of any tool (up or down, larger or smaller) and in this version there doesn't appear to be a way to reset the tools ... individually or collectively. What am I missing? In the previous versions these items worked just fine.
After the last Photoshop beta update, the "brackets" are no longer increasing and decreasing the size of the brushes, I have already checked the shortcut preferences and they are properly configured, I have already reset the Photoshop preferences and also. what could it be?
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
For some crazy reason in the latest update the layer boundries shortcut was assigned to the bracket keys as well as brush size ... if you delete the layer boundry shortcut they work to resize the brush again
Several Adobe apps use the [ ] shortcuts. Much of the time when keyboard shortcuts stop working, it's because another app has taken them over. It could be a browser.
Try this:
reboot your computer
confirm that no apps are running
launch only the app that has this issue and test again
I am working on a M3 max macbookpro and since the update of 25.11.0 my shortcuts for brushsize do not work anymore. In my settings I left all to default and asigning them again will not do the job. Starting up Photoshop 25.9.1 works perfect. Has anybody the same issues here? Or found a solution?
