P: PS Beta 25.4: Pen tool: Option/Alt shortcut key

I have encountered some difficulties with the pen tool in Photoshop 25.4. Since the latest update, the pen tool does not work as it should. For instance, when I try to remove an anchor point, the convert point tool does not switch on automatically. Also, the eyedropper tool appear when i press ALT button. These problems are affecting my workflow and productivity. I would appreciate any assistance or guidance on how to resolve this error. Thank you for your time and attention.

@pscotton , I cannot reproduce the issue on

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.4.0 20240118.r.319 on Mac OS 14.2.1

at all.

And on

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.5.0 20240203.m.2489 on Mac OS 14.2.1

I cannot reproduce Paths getting lost after closing the file.

Not even a Work Path.

Can you reproduce this issue? What kind of Path (Path, Vector Mask, Work Path) is affected? What is the exact version of Beta you are using?

Just updated to 25.5.0 (beta) and wish that I hadn't, since the path/eyedropper bug is back after having been fixed in the previous version. Branch collision..?

I don't think it's reasonable to want to silence all complaint with 'It's a beta'. Without feedback (and some of it is going to be from frustrated people), Beta schemes are pointless. Besides which, this particular glitch has plagued the main branch too, persistently.

@Martin32279432sa1y , I perceive a dissonance in your sentence between »complaint« and »beta«; please report all the bugs and shortcomings you find, that way you are doing Adobe a favor and potentially other/future Photoshop-users to boot.

But I don’t think one has a right to »complain« about a public Beta disappointing in some (or several) regards.

It is very sad that Adobe has not solved this problem for about 5 months! Today I updated the beta version, the problem persists for mac.

You guys [Adobe] really need to get your act together. The pen tool is probably one of the most-used tools Photoshop has to offer, and this problem has persisted for months now with no fix yet.

For anyone looking for the interim workaround, go into your Creative Cloud/Beta Apps/... More Actions and install Version 25.3.0. This version of the pen tool works fine. You will get an annoying 'update notification Pop-up' this can be removed by selecting the clone tool, click without the option key to force the 'error dialog box', drag it over the 'update notification Pop-up' and click ok and it'll go away... for a while! Lets hope Adobe can resolve this soon, there are some great tools in the Beta version.

Sadly, this version is not available to me; 25.4 is now the lowest available. I really miss this functionality!

I found a long winded workaround for now is when you want to create the corner point, is to cycle through a couple of pen tool options using 'shift P' and back to pen again. In my case I use three pen tools including Convert Point Tool which is the key one to get what I want.

Not very workflow friendly but I get what I need until a working beta comes along. I had to sort these through Keyboard Shortcuts.

Three months later and this is STILL an issue. What on earth is going on at Adobe HQ that that it takes longer than three months to fix one of the most used tools in their software?!

@PotatoGraphick , you are complaining about a Beta version; if the Pen Tool is essential to you you are free to use the released Photoshop version.

Yeah, if you and 216 other people expect a Beta version to work as reliably the released version (and I am not denying that that features bugs, but at least not this one) then you might be better off that way.
