If I load a file into Photoshop Beta 24.6.0 and try to crop it, when I commit the crop instead of giving me the newly cropped image, I get a square of random size (apparently) that contains none of my image. If I do the same crop in the release version, it works fine.
The first thing to try is to reset your Crop tool. Right-click it in the options bar (not Tools panel) and Reset tool. Can you tell us if this fixes it for you? If not, you might need to reset preferences.
I've been cropping in the beta and it works for me.

Same problem with v25.6 final. Where is the "options bar?"

The current version of Photoshop Beta is 25.10. Does it work for you there?
Go to the Window menu and enable "options" from the bottom of the menu. The options bar has settings (options) for the current tool.

Found it. Right-clicking the options bar did nothing for me. I had to left-click the down arrow next to the crop icon in the options bar, then click on the cog wheel icon at the right side of the pop up menu. The Reset tool is in the next menu, and it seems to be working now. Thanks.
Tried v25.9, but didn't care for the new font handling. I don't do beta programs... too many bad experiences in the distant past.

Yes, that's one way to reset a tool. The other way is to right-click the icon for the tool in the options bar (not Tools panel) and select Reset [tool]. If you have the Crop tool selected, it will reset the Crop tool.
You replied to a post in the Photoshop Beta forum, so we thought that's what you were using!. Here's the link for the Photoshop forum:

I'm glad the Crop tool is working for you now! The options for tools are sticky across time and across documents until you on-purpose change them or Reset them to their defaults.

Hi @jlg84NZ curious if you see the same issue in the latest beta, 24.7?

Same in Beta 25.6.0

I am having the same issue. I am running PS Beta 24.7
When I make a selection of any type, go to Image > Crop - nothing happens.
If I use the Crop tool in the tool bar, it's pretty much a dead tool, doesn't do anything either.
Using Mac Studio M1 Max, Ventura 13.3.1(a)

Okay. So, I posted I was having the same issue. Here's what's happening for me. I went back into the full release version, 24.6.0 and discovered Crop does NOT work in the full release or beta if the images are on an Artboard.
If there is no Artboard involved, the crop works fine in both beta and full release.

This is EXACTLY whats happening here. In my artboard, the crop tool simply does not work or display any kind of handles around the selected image.
