As I understand it, if you wish to extend an image, you use the crop tool to extend the image, you then use the contextual tool bar to generate... When I select the CROP TOOL the contextual text bar vanishes. It re-appears when other tools are used but will NOT appear when the CROP TOOL is selected. This seems to have happened since the update a couple of days ago..

Looking at a number of the training videos that are around, when they wish to extend the image they use the crop tool to extend the canvas and then generative fill/generate. If I use another tool i.e. the rectangular selection tool then I cannot extend the image as it will not select beyond the boundary of the image . Of course you firstly use the crop tool to extend and then you use selection tool to draw out the extension before using generate.. Apologies to all, thanks for your answer. I can only think my mind has become muddled with all these extra functions Adobe are throwing at me.Thanks again

Hi,
What Version exactly do you use? you normally use the SELECT Tool. It can be a rectangular Selection, The Lasso Tool, Object Selection or any other Selecting Tool. Hope that helps.
