@Derek34596145w31n the Reference Image is only on Ps beta, not the Ps release version.  Did you mean to post this on the Ps forum for release?

Here is the post about Reference Image for reference:

Hi Tahia,

Please open an image, make a selection, and then place your insertion point in the “Generative Fill” field of the context bar. If the reference image button does not appear, please share a screenshot of your screen.

Thanks!

The Reference Image feature is not in the released version of Photoshop yet, but you should see it in the Beta

I'm having the same issue. Weirdly enough I was using it last night and the icon was there but this morning the reference image icon is gone. Using version 25.9.1 Beta Photoshop

I totally agree with you. In general, generative fill is pretty useless without reference image option.

Same problem, no "reference image" icon appears next to the generative fill text field.

Mac OS, Photoshop ver 25.11

The reference image icon only appeards when I use the "Generate image" function, not generative fill

I cannot believe that every tip and video instruction I have searched online does not mention that this is in Beta only. When will the PS release verion be updated? All the bells and whistles and hoo-haa about generative fill are pretty useless if it's only in Beta. So annoying!

@Temple Dog many GenAi features are available in Ps release and it is normal for the new features to launch in beta to test and refine before making their way to Ps release.  Curious where you have seen tips or videos talking about Ps beta features that did not make it clear that is where they are, happy to see if there is a way to make this clearer to everyone.

Thanks,

Heyu buddy,

When I installed the release version in August it had the reference image feature. I updated last week or something and now it is gone.

Please, think about putting it back in the release version. It was such a powerful feature.

Cheers

Hello @CShubert is this in beta only? According to this FAQ it should be available in my production version, there is no reference to the beta. But I can't see this tool, and my PS app is well up-to-date in macOS Sequoia latest version (Apple M3). Thank you!

Has this been figured out yet? I am on PS v26.7 and the only place I can find it is here: https://photoshop.adobe.com/ Adobe on Web. Where can I download a version of the desktop app for Mac that has this feature?

Hi swshmn,

You should be able to access the Reference Image feature in PS Beta on the mac.
