Remove Tool in Beta for Photoshop Desktop

Hello Beta Team,
The Remove tool replaces areas of your image with realistic and relevant content.  Use this tool to remove any distracting regions or elements, no matter how small or large.

Simply brush this artificial-Intelligence-powered tool over objects and people to make them disappear… as if they were never there. 

Complicated backgrounds and structures, such as fences or edges are seamlessly completed.

What we want for you:
This should seem like the magic you expect out of Photoshop!

For our experienced users and those with a discerning eye, our goal is to reduce or eliminate the clean-up after the fill. You should be spending less time repeating a fill for better results. You should also not need to clean-up by switching to another tool, such as the Clone Stamp.

What we want from you:

If you have multiple systems, please try this tool on all of them. Hardware will make a difference.

How to use the Remove Tool in Photoshop Desktop Beta

1. Select the Remove tool from the toolbox.
   Find it in the Healing brush tool group. Expand the group by clicking on the Spot Healing Brush tool, Patch tool, or Red Eye tool to show the Remove Tool.
   
   Note: You may see a “Installing required components…” dialog the first time you use the tool after installation. Don’t worry, that’s normal.
   
   
2. Choose a brush size in the options bar.
   • Choose a brush size that lets you brush over the entire object – with a little extra for good measure – so you don’t have to do a lot of brushing!
   • Brush hardness and brush opacity settings are not used by this tool
            
3. (Optional) If you want to make multiple brush strokes to cover the large or complex object, turn off Remove after each stroke in the options bar.
   • Remove after each stroke = ON  will apply the fill as soon as you complete a single stroke with the tool.
   • Remove after each stroke = OFF will apply the fill after clicking the apply button; allowing for multiple strokes of the brush on the object before applying the fill.  
        
4. (Optional) Turn on Sample All Layers in the options bar to sample data from all visible layers.
   Note: The new pixels will be created on the current, selected layer.
   Hint: Create & select a new layer, then turn on Sample All Layers for a non-destructive workflow.
   
   
5. Click and drag over area you want to remove.
   • Be sure to cover the entire area. Results are better if a bit of the background behind the object or person is also covered.
   
   If Remove after each stroke = ON is selected, the new pixels will be appear after completing the stroke. Skip the next step. You’re done!

6. If Remove after each stroke = OFF, continue to stroke of the area(s) to be removed, then click Apply in the Options bar or  Enter/Return on the keyboard.
   • Use Reset all Brush Strokes to clear all the strokes and start over.

My pc is a ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VI HERO Rev 1.xx. The processorise: 3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-4770, 16GB RAM.  I have an older GPU. I forgot to tell you to install the ADD-on when you install the Beta version of Photoshop. The ADD-on will appear when you click on the 3 dots...

@Roman98A2  Can you try deleting PS preferences by selecting Preferences > General. Click [Reset Preferences On Quit]. Relaunch PS for the change to take effect?
If you still see the error, can you post System Info from the Help menu?

Please check if Remove Tool Components are installed for 24.5:

1. Open Creative Cloud Desktop.
2.  Click on Apps at the top menu.
3. Click on Beta apps in the left hand panel
4. Make sure to click "Update available" to update to the latest Photoshop Beta (released today!)
5. Locate Photoshop (Beta) app and click on the three dots in the right most side of its entry to open the menu
   
   
6. Click on Add-ons
   
   
7. Check if “Remove Tool components” are “Added”.
   
8. If it shows “Add”, click on the button to install “Remove Tool components” manaully.

I got into the same situation yesterday and following the below steps solved the problem for me. Can you try and let me know if it works for you, too?
1. Open Creative Cloud Desktop app. Select Uninstall to uninstall the latest Photoshop (Beta) .


2. Select Remove to remove the old preferences. 

3. After uninstallation is done, click Install to reinstall.

Hi @Yuko K. , sorry no luck. I can confirm the uninstall did in fact too remove the "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop (Beta)/AddOnModules/sensei_model_cache/inpainting_ai/super_caf" folder too.

Toastman3000 Do you happen to use non-English (North America) version, because it happened to me once when I switched to German version? I am trying to reproduce the error message but I cannot any more.

I didn't set any prefs regarding English versions, just the default Photoshop I believe.

Can you put the attached file pslogSettings.txt in the following location?

Then launch PS and select the Remove Tool until the "Unable to use the tool at this time" error message pops up. Select other tool and then select Remove Tool again.

Can you retrieve the log file from the following location and email it to ykagita at adobe dot com or send it to me via the community message feature? The logfile is named using the format "pslog_YYYYMMDD_<postfix>.log".

Hi I did this, but there is no postfix log. Only a regular log which doesn't say much. 

I triple checked I put that pslogSettings.txt file in the right spot

We are still investigating this issue but we have added some more distinguishable error messages in the latest 24.7 Beta to help us track down the problem. Could you please try it again in the latest Beta and post the screenshot if any error pops up when you select Remove tool?

Also, it would be super helpful if you could try retireve the log file again by following the instructions above and putting the attached pslogSettings.txt file in the instructed location. Please note that the setting in this file is different from the previously attached version. Thank you.
