action opens dialog box without modal included

Photoshop actions started acting weird. in grayscale mode, It stops to open a dialog box. This should happen only when there is a modal included at this particular step of the action.  This issue is apparent only with grayscale images. In RGB mode the action works as it should. Why is this happening? It used to be working fine before.

A temporary workaround seems to be to save a user preset and apply it.

Recorded actions

You can save user presets anywhere, but here is the default location:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2024/Presets/Curves/test.acv

It works similarly for "Levels".

Temporary workaround 2
How to record in "current channel" in Photoshop 25.11, just like Photoshop 2022, etc.

Convert the Grayscale image to Multichannel in "Image / Mode / Multichannel" and record the action.
The action recorded will now be "Channel: current channel", so it will work properly even with Grayscale images.

It works similarly for "Levels".

No modal control is included, but the Action in grayscale mode stops playing and opens the dialog box.

I can't see anything on a low resolution video.

Please post a screenshot of the Actions panel with all the steps fully expanded.

I don't understand. I have an issue with Photoshop. The experts in the Adobe community suggested I report it as a bug. The post was returned to the discussion board, indicating it was not a bug. If the experts cannot explain such Photoshop behavior, there are no answers in Adobe "Learn and Support" regarding this issue and I cannot do my job because of this issue. What adobe is charging me for?

Having an issue does NOT mean there is a bug in the program. If it is working as designed, then there is nothing to fix. You could have this changed to a feature request if that's the case.

But I don't want to make any adjustments. I recorded the adjustments in the action and I want the action to play it without me interfering. And why the state is not available? if I manage to record it, where does it go?

You have custom settings. You'll need to re-record this step.

Could you please explain, I really don't understand what you mean. Also can you please explain why the "custom settings" thing is not an issue in RGB mode, the action works just fine? please watch the screen video

Yes, the dialog will open if you have to make adjustments. An action saves state but if that state is not available then you either get an error or a dialog.

It is because I set a specific value in the level adjustment dialog box and recorded it as an action step. When I play the action the dialog box shouldn't open up.

Why is it showing a custom preset?
