P: Could not initialize Photoshop because of a disk error

Hello,

I've installed the Adobe Creative Cloud on a PC.

- Windows 10 Professional 21H1

- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz

- RAM 16 Go

- 156 Go of space disk remaining on the SSD

Illustrator and InDesign launch perfectly, but Photoshop (v23.0) doesn't.
I've tried to uninstall it to install an older version (22.5.2) but I always get the same message : "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a disk error" ("Impossible d'initialiser Photoshop en raison d'une erreur de disque" in French).

I tried to uninstall and install it again, to reboot the PC. I also tried to change the disk with ctrl + alt, but nothing appears but the error message.

Can you please help me with this error, this is the only PC with this problem in my company.

Thanks in advance

@Arteixo Sorry to hear about the trouble. Are you using the latest Creative Cloud version (PS 2022, v 23.0)? You can check the computer minimum requirements for Photoshop here. Photoshop system requirements (adobe.com)

Were you able to work okay using an earlier version of Photoshop? Here is how to go back to a previous version. Please let us know if this helps. Install previous versions of your Creative Cloud apps (adobe.com)

Since a few days I'm not able to open Photoshop anymore. Error says:

Failed to initialize Photoshop because a volume error occurred.

I tried uninstalling the newest version and putting up the old one - but now the same Error appears.

I also tried to open Photoshop as usual through Lightroom - edit in-Photoshop. Same Error -.-

There is also enough free space on my hard drives.

Please someone help 😞

Thx, Lisa

I'm getting the completely same error since yesterday. Even the older version 22.5.2 is not working anymore. I have >80 GB free on my working drive. Photoshop worked till the update. Sadly, I'm not able to work with Photoshop anymore...

Thanks, and regards Michael

See Jerrery Tranberry's answer above. It should fix your issue.

Install the Media Feature Pack in windows as instructed here:

Hello,

after i update the photoshop to the newest version i got an error:

It says

Photoshop cannot be initialized because a disk error has occured

Error occured even in photoshop 2021 and older right now. Can't fix it with clearing temp files, reset settings or reinstall the program. Ctrl+alt shortcut no longer work so i can't change disk. Any ideas?
