I have updated CC 2015, both Lightroom and Photoshop. I can open Photoshop and can open a photo. Every time I close out a photo, Photoshop crashes with the message, Adobe Photoshop CC has stopped working. It will now close.

I can't use the new update;

This issue should be corrected in the Photoshop CC 2015.0.1 update which was released today. Details here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

Had the same problem. Found this solution higher up in the thread and it worked for me.

Cale - I had the same problem. Only way I could get the workaround to work was to save the recovered images when the dialog box came up after I clicked 'exit'. I had to do each one individually - it crashed after the first one. After saving, the images didn't appear as 'recovered' any more and the preferences had saved the unchecked 'use graphics processor' box. No more crashes since. Good luck!

I'm also having the same problem. Downloaded PS CC 2015 a couple days ago but haven't used it until today. I have several windows open in Photoshop and if I try to close any of them the program crashes. I have tried unchecking "Use Graphics Processor", not running any other programs, I have tried restarting the computer and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PS. Running on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Try Scott Walker's promoted response, it worked for me. I unclicked the box, then "x"d one of the pictures out. It crashed. I did it again for each photo. And it crashed after each one. THEN, and here is the key, you open Photoshop again, go back and uncheck the 'Use graphics processor' box. hope this helps.

Here is scotts response: Cale - I had the same problem. Good luck!

Just to follow up on this, I used the suggested work around and was successful!!!! It is as follows: Edit, Preferences, Performance, uncheck "Use Graphics Processor."

I am on a PC. I have not installed it on my laptop.

Good Luck and hopefully Adobe will have a solution soon.

Adam,

Thank you. The temporary fix worked for me. I am using Windows 7. However, there is another bug. I use Action that includes flipping a layer horizontally. The image does not refresh when the layer is flipped. I have to move the mouse on the entire image until the whole thing is refreshed. The work around is fill the whole document or canvas the flip the layer under the top layer horizontally. I would rather not take an extra step. It was not an issue with CC2014 or CS2. Another thing I noticed is when I save the Action file it opened the CC2014 Action folder instead of CC2015.

There are two layers. The top layer is grayscale and the bottom layer is RGB color.

I have to move the mouse over the entire image to get the result for top layer of as shown in the image below.

I distribute the Action file. It is going to be a pain for other users.

This is a great conversation that's mostly unrelated to the one you posted in, so I created a new conversation to continue the discussion.

Please reference the new conversation here: PHOTOSHOP CC 2015 - image not redrawing after flipping horizontally in action

Photoshop keeps shutting down every time I close an image. If I leave the images and don't close them after saving, Photoshop will stay open. Just updated my Photoshop yesterday-that's when the problem started.

I have tried the "fix" above ie unticking the Use Graphics Processor box but still not staying open after closing 1 image. This all started after an update a few weeks ago, have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times too. I note that Adam Jerugim, an employee says they may have found a temporary fix for this so wonder if there will be a permanent solution on its way. I hope so.

When will a fix be released to fix this? In addition, my Rectangular Marquee tool, when moved and adjusted, leaves a lot of "crud" on the image. So when you move the selection around you can no longer see where the lines starts and ends. Seems like this version has not been tested very well or have requirments of the PC and drivers not spelled out correctly. When will either the needed HW or drivers be spelled out or an updated version released?
Too many issues to make this version useful!

I have had success with unticking the graphics processor box as suggested by others but found I had to save and close each of the "recovered files" individually between crashes. I hope a permanent solution is available very soon as so many are having the same problem.

When I am working on an image everything goes great. I can finish all my edits and save all changes. The problem occurs when I am done with an image. When I close an image to begin work on another the program crashes. This has happened ever since I updated to CC 2015. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but it has not worked. Anyone else experience this or have a solution?

I was able to correct this error by going to file, preferences, performance and then unticked the use graphics processor box as outlined in other conversations in this pagr. BUT befote this I was having recovered files popping up on the screen. Each of these had to saved and closed separately with the programme shutting down between each of them. I then found that the box stayed unticked. I hope this helps

I am having the same problem, every time I close a photograph it displays the This program has stopped working window. when I cancel that the whole program crashes. I have tried various suggested work round non of which work. I have now uninstalled cc2015 and reinstalled cc2014. I will wait until this one is sorted until I reinstall. Annoying yes, but not the end of the world cc2014 still works perfectly.

I'm stuck in a loop! I try and close this file I've been working on and Photoshop Crashes and I get this Message "The instruction at 0*1d3b9ea6 referenced memory at 0*00000001. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program. The problem is when I open Photoshop again the same jpeg opens again and blocks me from opening any other file, and when I close it the evil little loop starts all over again! HELP! Best Regards David

David, reset your PS preferences on launch (shift-cntrl-alt) then turn off "Use Graphics Processor" in performance preferences (Edit > Preferences > Performance). Then quit and re-launch the application. That should mitigate the crashes you're seeing when you close files.

Thanks, Glory be to the Gods and Adobe.... Ok I overreacted a bit. Now we just have to wait for the fix, and thanks once again.

I upgraded to PS 2015 and Lightroom 2015, but when I go to open a raw .nef file from Bridge, it looks for PS CS6 instead. Also, when I manually open a file in PS 2015 and try to close the file, PS abends.
