P: File name and extension highlight when saving on macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello. After last updates (Osx Catalina and CC 2020), when the save window appear, the focus, highlite, is on all the file name and extension instead only the filename. I suspect the issue is related to Catalina, but I ask if anyone has noticed the same thing. My working speed is affected and I would like to know if anyone has a solution to ensure that only the file name is highlighted (in save and export).
Thank you
Michele

When 'Save for Web' dialog appears, the whole filename (including the extension) is selected, and if the name is changed, Photoshop does not add .jpg (or selected file format extension) to the file.

Also, if the file exists, Save for Web asks to replace the file twice. Once a system dialog, and second time an app dialog.

Lastly, I use to be able to type a new file while waiting for the 'Save Optimized As' dialog, now I get the system alert sounds when I try to type anything before the dialog is displayed (which delays my workflow.)

Gee, I thought I was alone with this. So many unnecessary changes, no quality control. And for over $600 a year.

Photoshop dev please FIX this! It's so annoying and unproductive! I'm struggling with the same issues as everyone on this thread. It's the only thing that keeps me from updating to Catalina and without this update my laptop is restarting every day on its own.

This new "replace file" confirmation dialogue box has been bothering me more than the file extension highlighting.  I've been thinking about this for months, and I'm convinced that the source of the problem is actually with Mac OS X Catalina, not Photoshop.  I've found the "same replace file" confirmation box and file-extension-highlighting issue on several other programs, which was never the case before the Catalina update.

There were a lot of security-related updates implemented with Catalina.  A lot of us have probably noticed new warning dialogue boxes when opening programs for the first time after Catalina.  (I used Adobe Lightroom for my screenshots because I know I haven't opened it since the update).  Another warning dialogue that I didn't manage to get a screenshot of, is when using the eyedropper tool for the first time.    The box says something like "Adobe Photoshop would like to record your screen".

Anyways, I think all these strange new securities are related to the file extension being highlighted.  I have no idea why or how, and I have no further proof, but I'm going to redirect my frustration at Apple instead of Adobe, and I think you guys should do the same!

(I have many other gripes about Catalina– I was the first person at my company to do the update and I've been warning against it ever since.)

Coming here from the AE world, with just the search term: 'save mac dialog box selection catalina name'.. Thx for making this an issue. I hope Adobe can fix this issue, but something definitely changed with Cataline like Ted Martini mentioned.

Just wanted to throw in another vote asking to have both the full-filename-selected issue, plus the double-replace-confirmation-dialog issue mentioned just above. Hoping it's true that the more people report an issue, the more likely it'll be addressed.

I think we should charge Adobe and/or Apple all the extra time it takes to deal with this bug. Cumulatively it has been hours for me and what was once a super easy work flow had become increasingly annoying. I don't know who test the updates, but I noticed it within the first 15 minutes of the updates. And that fact it has yet to be corrected is also infuriating...

Is there a way to revert back to an older version PS? unless its more of a Catalina issue than PS.

Still the same issue after updates to both Catalina and Photoshop itself is kind of ridiculous. But what can we do? We're all f&(@'d.

THAT'S THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER! It has slowed down my workflow a lot and it's taking time and money just to look for a fix on the internet. As a photoshop heavy user since 2003, that's the first time I have to write asking for any solutions on an issues related board. FIX THIS, Adobe!

How is this still an issue 6 months later?  You get we open Photoshop to save files, right?  And it's failing at this completely basic task.

One of the benefits of forcing everyone to pay for these apps forever were quick updates, what happened to that?

I'm so thankful to find this thread. This has been a huge waste of time to have to use my cursor to name the file. It used to be so straight forward and didn't require more mouse work. I'm adding myself to the list, with a plea that this be fixed!

Same here. Small annoyance just once or twice but infuriating to deal with everyday for weeks/years.

I don't have this issue with Illustrator or PS on Windows.

Please fix!

Keeping up with this thread because I have this problem as well. What's interesting is I regularly use 3 different apple computers (2 iMacs, 1 Macbook) that are all up to date with Catalina and have the same versions of Photoshop, but I only have this problem on one of them. Truly baffling.

With every small update I hope that this will be addressed and it's so irritating that it hasn't been. It just destroys my workflow to have to worry about the file extension every single time. And the duplicate alerts about overwriting files! What's the deal, Adobe?!
