P: Fit on Screen Not working in 23.3.0

After updating yesterday to the latest version of Photoshop (23.3.0), the Fit on Screen menu item and associated Command-0 shortcut no longer enlarge an image,  If the Zoom tool is active, pressing the Fit Screen button still works.  I am on an M1 Mac, OS 12.3.1.

Can you change your original post from »Discussion« to »Bug«? (I don’t know if that’s generally possible or might need administrator access or some other …) 

As the issue can be reproduced it seems to deserve a bug-ranking and that way it should definitely register with Adobe.

In Standard Screen Mode Fit on Screen only seems to do what it is intended to if the image window is bigger than the screen. (edited)

If the window is smaller the window’s size seems to be considered the target size.

Maybe the bug comes because of this fix: "Fit on Screen" (Cmd+0) works strange when using arranged windows"

I hope Adobe will address this in the next version. I use cmd+0 a lot. 

Another issue I experienced is that there is no "frame" in the other screen modes like in maximized screen. After using "fit on screen" the image now touches the options bar and the edge of the screen. I wonder if you have the same problem?

Correct. But Ctrl+0 is quick and easy. Having to switch first to Fit the Screen defeats the purpose 🙂

For all other users, here two screenshots to better show what I mean. This happens after "fit on Screen" in screen mode "Full screen with menu bar" both on my Intel MacBookPro with Catalina 10.15.7 and on my M1 Max MacStudio with Monterey 12.3.1.

Yes, this Ctrl + 0 setting change is super inefficient and annoying. I hope they fix this as I tried to get Adobe Support's help on this today, but no luck in fixing it so it must be a bug. Older versions of Photoshop did not fit to frame/window. I would prefer it to fit to screen which is the point of it. Thank you for starting this post! I thought I was going crazy.

Incidentally, I found that the problem does not occur when you tab your pictures (Preferences > Workspace > Open Documents as Tabs). I prefer to have my pictures in floating windows, but the tabbed functionality may help until the bug is fixed 🙂

We have the same problem here on different iMacs with the latest OS.

It only happens when you are in "Standard Screen Mode".

In "Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar" and "Full Screen Mode" all works fine.

I have the same problem with version 23.3.0 running on Windows 11.  I thought resetting preference might help but it didn't.

I'm on a mac and same issue since the update. It's drivin me straight BERNANNERS! Command+0 shortcut or manually selecting it in the view window does nothing. If I zoom in so the file is larger than my screen then use fit to screen it will work. It only zooms out, will not zoom in/enlarge.  I can confirm that it does work while using the application frame. but i'm an application frame hater.

It is side effect of this bug (also in Windows), image touching the Options bar, that didn't happen previously.

Recently updated PhotoshopCC 2022 on my imac. The keyboard shortcut 'Command 0' used to resize image to fill screen. Now in full screen mode it still does, but in standard mode when the image is smaller than the screen it does not increase in size. When the image is over screen size the command still works to bring it down and fill the screen.

Ant ideas?
