P: Flickering problem in photoshop workspace

Hello, first of all sorry for my bad english.

I have a problem with flickering while using PS - i've searched all topics, and i saw that this problem exist from year 2019, and still no clue whats going on...

I have a new laptop - Acer Nitro 5 laptop with dual cards Intel UHD and Nvidia RTX 3050. All drivers are updated, and on RTX I have STUDIO Drivers, not Game Ready.

- I don't want to disable GPU on PS, because I'm using a lot of options for it.

- I can't disable g-sync (i saw this tip in other topics) because i don't have this option

- I have Nvidia Studio Drivers (on Game-Ready the problem is the same)

- I have this problem ONLY on Adobe app

Not my video, but it looks like this VID 20190809 233324 - YouTube - when you use mouse, tablet for drawing with brush, when you do anything on workspace all image changing brightness/contrast when you click/use brush. This is really really REALLY annoying.

I saw posts with telling others that dual-card laptops may have problems. But it is not a solution - the market with these laptops is huge, so ther must be a solution...

Is there really nothing you can do about it?!

PLEASE... help. I do not want this topic to be like the others - years later - without solving the problem. For me for OTHER people who struggle with it.

Best regards S.

Hi @Mark.Dahm

I just updated my drivers to be sure, no difference unfortunately. It happens when I run them alone and presumably at the same time as well. I may try another reinstall, this time from the ground-up: Creative Cloud and Photoshop.

@Griffin190 , whoah, that's bad. Have you tried updating your GPU driver? If you have the option, do a clean reinstall. Something that affects both Photoshop and Illustrator seems like it could be low level, like a GPU driver.

If that does not help, does the flickering happen if you only run either Photoshop or Illustrator alone, or does this happen when they are both running?

Hi all, after a small hiatus, I've decided to get back to doing some Photoshop work, though I'm running into a series of issues that have left me near helpless. The app often slows to a crawl when selecting tools, and various menus/dropdowns flicker to the point of uselessness. Linked is a video demonstrating these issues. I've also unfortunately had similar issues pop up in Illustrator as well, though Photoshop is my main concern.
I have already tried the following:

Deleted all extensions

Reset all preferences
Reinstalled PS

Turned off GPU usage

Restarted computer

Additional info:
Photoshop Version 23.4.1

Windows 10 Home 10.0.19043

Hi @Bart0101, sorry to hear the solution for others is not working for you.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

@magpie5 , that's great you got it working; was Anthony from Adobe support? Would love to get the scoop on the fix in case it helps others.

Nvidia doesn't respond me, but other threats shows that they know nothing, or telling to disable gsync, or that it's a intel fault. Users with GTX cards have the same problem.

I had Nvidia Games Drivers, than change to Nvidia Studio, then back to my OEM Acer dedicated drivers. I had Intel Acer dedicated drivers, then updated to newest. I check all drivers.

I discovered that Blender program have the same flickering issue.

Browsers, games, movies etc. works good.

Did you watch my video flickering - YouTube till the end? I think this is a very interesting thing/clue. On this video I have my RTX acceleration on, all the time. Why change rotation of the screen in Intel Control Panel solves the problem? This is crazy, but of course I can't work with screen up-side down 🙂

Hi!

If the problem goes away when you diabled your RTX Driver, have you called them to see if they have had other users with the same problem and if they have a solution? I know you said the flickering only happens with Adobe apps, it sounds like they (RTX) are they culprint, and they need to update their drivers to be compatible.

It' doesn't help.

flickering - YouTube - i've made my own video to show brightness flickering problem with examples.

My video is kinda "funny", but it looks like this.

I think this is, a Intel fault, but it's giving you and laptop manufacturers a bad name.

Another thing: When I "brute-force" disable my RTX from Windows 11 graphic center and force Intel GPU acceleration to open Photoshop, flickering stops. But i want use my more powerfull card with RTX.
