I just recently updated to Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, and my healing brush tools and clone stamp tool lags when I use it.  I had no prior issues with CC 2018.  What gives?

Please update to 20.0.2 and let us know if you're still seeing the lag/spinning cursor while/after brushing. This issue should be fixed in 20.0.2. Thanks for reporting this issue!

The issue where there's a lag with Rulers showing is a separate issue that is still being worked on.

Interestingly, I ran into this problem with Photoshop CC 2017 yesterday.  It just magically started happening.  I've read and tried a lot of the solutions in a few forums, but nothing works.  I upgraded to 20.0.6 and still have the problem.

The size of the photo doesn't matter.

So maybe it's not a 2019 version problem(?).

My work has ground to just about a complete halt because of this.

Hi Carlos J
Having read all of this thread about the problems people have had I found turning off the rulers and following Eduard Clé 's suggestion re my anti-virus program.  I am running Norton Anti virus and I can set it so it does not scan photoshop and that worked  - thank you Eduard Clé !.  I have also reported this to Adobe who I believe are looking at it.  I am running 2019 CC but have had the problem for ages - but as it only starts to show up after you have been working for a while I thought I just needed to restart PS.

Hi Eduard:

Since I posted this a couple of hours ago, this is how I got it back to functioning normally.  To recap - I was having the problem with PS 2017, and it followed when I upgraded to 2019, 20.0.6.  Here's what I did.

- Uninstalled 2019, retaining preferences.
- Uninstalled 2017, retaining preferences.
- Reinstalled 2017.

After the 2017 reinstall, I noticed the overall performance (navigation, scrolling, etc.) improved.  Perhaps there's some cache that was cleared by the uninstall.  I couldn't find anything to clear when browsing.  Still baffling...

Hi Carlos!

I am glad that you were finally able to solve the problem with my hint!
I soon realized that the problem was not with Photoshop itself ...
It was rather a matter of logical deduction and continuing to search. 🙂

I'm on 20.0.6, Mac Pro, Wacom tablet.

For me the lagging clone stamp & healing brush manifests as a kind of an unwanted 'line' being cloned from where I sampled, to where I intended to clone to.. It doesn't feel slower, just wrong. It's also intermittent.

I've made a picture of this. I'm starting with a black square, and then cloning out of the black square, in a circular fashion. I'm doing a single click, no dragging.

When I switch off rulers it's fine.

Please can we have this issue fixed, would be nice to be able to use cloning tools and have the rulers on again.

Hi Eduard,

The behaviour I described happens specifically when the rulers are showing, regardless if snapping is enabled or disabled.

I had exactly the same problem for months. OS X 10.14.6 , Psp 20.0.6. Turning off rulers seems to work in my case, for now....
