With Photoshop 25, every time I start up PS, an image opens on my screen accompanied by a tuorial on generative ai by Anna McNaught. How to I disable this? I don't need it and I can't find a way to get rid of it.

Can someone help me with this please?

Thank you

FYI another thread describing the same issue received an answer from an Adobe employee

It is related to non ASCII characters in the Windows User folder:

Hopefully this will be fixed soon

Hi Everyone,

First, our sincere apologies to those that are seeing this tutorial pop up at every launch of Photoshop and the frustration it causes that it hasn't been able to be disabled for you.

This seems to be caused by OS User Accounts that have non-standard characters in the account name. The workarounds we're currently aware of are:

  1.  Switch to another OS User Account that does not have non-standard ASCII characters
  2. Roll back to Photoshop 25.0

We have identified the issue and are w

I did update to V25.5.0.  Restarted.  Rebooted.  Kicked my Mac Studio a couple times.  Interestingly, my TV has better reception now, but Anna is still here.

Hi @Fanjoy,

Thank you for sharing the logs with us. According to the logs, you don't have proper permission access to the following folder: /Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ For steps, click here

Please grant read & write access to the Adobe folder, restart your machine and check if that helps to resolve the problem for you. Let us know the status.

Thanks,

Mohit

Update May 2nd, the issue is not only NOT solved, it's consistently showing up on my photoshop without fail. All the time I open up, the Iceland file opens up, pop-ups opens up. This is extremely annoying and invasive.

Hi, Mohit.  I granted permissions to that directory and files.  Rebooted.  Anna is still there.  Sorry Anna, no offence.

I never had this issue until this update. At 25.5 and 25.5.1, the issue came out. It's also affecting the "edit in Adobe Photoshop" option within lightroom classic. Whenever I tried to use the function, photoshop also opens with the tutorial or it stays at the home screen. Any idea what's going on?

I'm having this issue too!
Not to mention, when the tutorial pops up, it makes my toolbars go all wonky and look like this:

SPIRIDON36211740plaj_0-1710960991438.png

I uninstalled my photoshop, reinstalled it, and the toolbars were back. But as soon as that AI tutorial popped up, everything went missing again. So frustrating. Short of trying to remember what button is where, I can't figure out how to make the tutorial go away or how to get my toolbar back.

@Mohit Goyal @Pete.Green @Pattie-F didn't have this issue until I updated to version 25.6, now every time I open Photoshop I get this mess, toolbar doesn't even load correctly.

Why has it become an issue in version 25.6

Hi @Mohit Goyal

I am trying to send you the log files but am unable to attach the file. Can you provide any guidance on it?

I updated to the latest version and it is still an issue.

I found a temp fix for the issue, it seems to be related to having the Contextual Task Bar enabled, I uninstalled version 25.6 and then in version 25.5.1 disabled the Contextual Task Bar, then reinstalled version 25.6 again and no AI Gen tutorial at startup.

Just make sure to not enable the Contextual Task Bar, otherwise you'll be back to the dreaded AI Gen tutorial and broken toolbar.

Edit: the temp fix didn't last long, the AI Gen Tutorial nightmare has returned, it's back to version 25.5.1 for me

Can Adobe hire an exorcist to perform an exorcism on the stupid AI Gen Tutorial 🤣

Update didn't fix the problem, it's still there. I even uninstalled photoshop and then re installed it. Anna keeps showing.
