Hi, I am experiencing a high level of instability in Photoshop with the program crashing several times per hour of editing. I previously had issues when using an older video card that I described in another post. Since then I have updated to a new video card, a 4070, but am seeing just as many or more crashes but under slightly different circumstances.
I have attached several files to this message including my system information (the full text file and a JPG of the key hardware), a screenshot of my PS Performance Preferences and GPU Compatibility Check, and 3 crash reports . These reports have come while I have been using the latest version of PS (currently 24.5, one crash report is from when 24.4.1 was the latest) and the latest Nvidia Studio Driver (currently 535.98, though my crash report from 5/14 was on the previous driver which may have been more stable). I have installed the latest Windows Updates and BIOS for my motherboard. Although I have 3 crash reports below that I submitted to Adobe, they are actually relatively rare in terms of the crashes. Most the time there is no report, some times I see a pop-up saying there is a solution and it brings me to this link with general troubleshooting. As for my usage that precipitates the crashes, it differs a bit from the crashes I was getting with my 3070 card. With the 3070 I got crashes in both ACR and PS. With the new 4070, I have yet to get a crash in ACR, but I am getting lots of crashes in PS. Usually the crashes come when I am zooming in and out of an image or changing the tool selection on the left side toolbar. I almost always have only a single image open with up to 5 layers; I no longer open multiple images at once because the crashes are so frequent and I lose my work. It never crashes when I am running a plugin (I use the Nik Collection, Topaz, and Exposure X7). My system is otherwise stable and other programs do not present issues. I have re-set my preferences to defaults and then changed them to the current settings in the attachment below, but I don't see a difference. With my 3070, the only way I could prevent crashes was disabling the GPU entirely; enabling the Older GPU Mode (Technology Previews section) did not help. I obviously do not want to disable the GPU entirely as my images don't display as accurately in addition to the performance loss.
At this point I'm starting to pull my hair out, I really need your help! Thank you.
