P: Inverted horizontal scroll bug (Windows 10)

This is basically a repeat of someone else who posted this bug 5 months ago and never got a response. I however am not on a surface book it's an Asus Zenbook if that matters.

I myself have been dealing with this problem for at least 5 months probably longer and I AM SO TIRED OF DEALING WITH IT. Please fix this problem!!!!!

In the settings for Windows 10, you can reverse the vertical scrolling direction of the trackpad.

Normally, this has no effect on the horizontal scrolling direction. For example, in Illustrator and other programs, when you use two fingers to swipe left, the viewing area moves to the left (i.e. the document moves off to the right). This is the behavior of every program on the planet, Windows and Mac, except for Photoshop.

What happens now in Photoshop is that the horizontal scroll is also incorrectly reversed if you choose to reverse your trackpad's vertical scroll direction. This is clearly a bug as the behavior doesn't take place in any other Adobe products.

Someone mistakenly must have used the vertical reverse flag to also multiply the horizontal scrolling distance * -1. It's extremely annoying and counter-intuitive when trying to move around images. Please fix!

windows two-finger gesture  (in trackpad) is really common in lots of applications, it is also available in photoshop but the movement is reversed. In all the applications if I drag right ( using two-finger ) the page also goes right which is good and common. But in photoshop the thing is reversed when I drag right the canvas goes left ( why I don't know ), It's annoying. please fix it and optimize your application for the trackpad.

Thank You

Same issue here. Took Adobe a year just to respond with a comment. Another 2 and a half years later and something so simple and fundamental still has not been fixed. I gotta say, I miss Photoshop 7. At least its basic features worked.

This is happening to me with a Magic Trackpad 1 on Windows. Don't even have a Logitech mouse. Trackpad scrolling works perfectly fine in every other program (I know, shocking), it's just Adobe's where that somehow results in inverted horizontal scrolling. You'd think if they could make vertical scrolling work in the correct direction they could have also figured it out for horizontal scrolling sometime in the last 5 years, but I guess that is asking too much

Hey everyone

Like you I have been waiting for Adobe to fix this for around 5 years but nobody seems willing to change that -1 to a 1... so today I made a workaround using Autohotkey:

;PHOTOSHOP SCROLL FIX

#MaxHotkeysPerInterval 1000

#if WinActive("ahk_exe Photoshop.exe")
WheelLeft::sendinput, {WheelRight}
#if

#if WinActive("ahk_exe Photoshop.exe")
WheelRight::sendinput, {WheelLeft}
#if

Hopefully that will help some others in the pleasurable use of our v. expensive software!

Cheers, John G 🙂

HOW HARD IS IT to put a toggle in to reverse the horizontal scroll. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE PAID A COMPANY THIS KIND OF MONEY for DECADES for supposedly production ready software and can't get BASIC USABILITY PROBLEMS FIXED. Maybe you should have fixed things like this instead of sinking trillions of development hours into that cockamamie 3D functionality that was literally never useful for 98% of your users.

Sorry, but this is totally infuriating. I worked as a software developer for like 10 years and I don't know how product managers can look themselves in the face while prioritizing dubioulsy useful features over bug fixes when people are paying for subscriptions. I get the business need for it if you're optimizing for new sales of boxed software, but the entire justification of the subscription model is having things constantly worked on becuase you're constantly funding it. These problems completely neutralize that argument.
